Doesn't matter. They just have to write that in. I keep mine between 38 and 39 and they still put that

I got mine updated today and got the sticker. Brief drive shows smoother downshifts to a stop and one hill near my house that is 50mph that I use CC on I normally get two downshifts to 4th and then sometimes will not go back to 5th or takes forever now goes back to 5th pretty quickly. Still a slight uphill so won't pick 6 at only 50mph. I'll post more feedback after a road trip this weekend and then won't be visiting this forum much.

I hate Charlotte traffic but I'm out just driving around because this is how these trucks should have shifted to start with its about time Toyota and a big thanks to Tacomaworld for all the support that lead to this updated TSB

I have a 2017 on order that I'll receive end of Aug. I will check the EDM when it arrives and hope that this is done. Now I just hope that the Trans is filled properly and the joints are greased.

I believe all trucks produced after July 14, 2016 will come with the new software

Just had this same experience with my dealer. Stopped by today and got the same "couldn't reproduce". I'm going to leave it overnight this week and stop by the next morning to show them the hood rattle (only happens when it's cold) and the R to D shift problem. Hoping for the best.

They didn't ask me what mine was doing I told them what TSB it was and they installed it in mine but I had documents showing I had complained and was told this was normal for this truck

I'm not impressed with the update. I'm now convinced that Toyota has a real problem.

My R to D delay does seem to be gone but the design is all wrong.

When I was dropped off and picked up in a Sienna it had the same engine and felt better than my updated Taco.

    Minivan better? Not good.

No issues getting the T-SB done for me earlier this afternoon. My dealer didn't spend time trying to replicate the symptoms, they just asked me for a verbal verification and checked my service history. I had mentioned shifting issues to the dealer on a previous visit and had them check/top-up the transmission fluid level (1 quart low), so I guess maybe they used that history for verification. Either that or I just got lucky. Based on the service department experiences a lot of you are talking about, I know luck had something to do with it... :spy:

No sticker under the hood for me either, just paperwork indicating flash per T-SB instructions. I am going to ask about the sticker when I go back later this week have my special-order plugs installed for the howling LCA T-SB. The truck did seem to shift much better during my 30 minute drive home (45-65 mph, with and without cruise control and ECT engaged). Need more time on the road this week for a better assessment. My mpg for the drive averaged 20.9, which is pretty close to what I normally get.

got my 2016 sr5 dclb flashed today! seems to be great so far. no sticker, but got the paperwork. i drive alot of hills and have some country-road 4-way (rolling) stops. no doubt in my mind it shifts and feels better all around. solved the R-D delay as well. Better shifts when climbing hills too, its not in as much of a hurry to get into 4th, then downshift back to 3. it still has a slight flare from 3 to 4 but that doesnt really bother me.

i did notice one thing. when i was driving away from the dealership after the flash, maybe 3 miles out, i heard a slight howl coming from eng/tran region while accelerating from a stop light, i think it was in 4th gear at the time. it was a new sound (i have previously heard and plugged the a-arms, def not related). i do think it was from the tranny. anyway i have not been able to replicate so hopefully we can chalk it up to the transmission re-learn, but i will be listening. let me know if any of you hear this sound after the flash.

some other background.. truck was built in may, deliv in early june. Coming from a 2011 tacoma, i noticed the tranny glitches immediately. i personally followed the procedure for fluid check and fill at 350 miles (D-light indicator, etc). it was about 10 oz low so i topped off. it did not make any difference in my truck. i took it to the dealer at 500 mile complaining about delay and other issues but they could not replicate and said it was all normal. the SM said they even had similar complaints from some of their sales guys during test drives of other tacomas. anyway, they did the flash today, no questions asked, no arguments or pushback like others have noted. im happy for now!

For those of you struggling with reluctant dealers:

You might try what I did. First, call Corporate to get a case number and to soften up the dealer. Then, the day before your appointment, call the Customer Service Representative at your dealer and explain the situation. In my case, this was the same person that called me back after I called Corporate. I explained that the SR did not come right out and say the TSB would be applied without replicating the issue, and I did not want to go to the trouble of coming in unless I was certain that the TSB would be applied. She said all the right things, and called me back a few hours later confirming my appointment, letting me know she spoke with the SR and assured me that work would be done.

Appointment is tomorrow, if anything goes differently than expected I will post up.

There are few others that have heard it but nobody seems to know what it is.

I know, I would hate it if new issues arise from this. It is weird because the howl occurred while seemingly locked into 4th gear, it was not in-between shifts when you might expect some tranny pump/valve noise. I got my TSB done at Superior, Erie PA.

Charles Maund Toyota is my dealership...located in North Austin.

They contacted me about my 5000 mile service, even though I am at only 4200 miles...figured what the hell, I'll go early and get the TSB done also. I printed out the TSB to show them and got there right on time 10am. My vehicle had been in with transmission complaints and they did an actual fluid check and found I was 1.5 quarts low in April. I showed the service guy the printed TSB and explained that I had been in previously with transmission issues. He gives me the same shit story others have gotten here about replicating the problem. I told him there should be no need to do that as I have documented issues but he sticks to his story. Long story short, he says they did the update....like I'm supposed to be thankful or something....they either couldn't or didn't try to replicate the issue but says they went ahead and did the TSB anyways. Picked truck up at 330 pm .....so 5 & 1/2 hours of my life wasted. Toyota is going to hear about it in my profanity laced customer survey.

Did they really do it....paperwork says so. I certainly didn't experience the....it's 100% better, a whole new truck....sensation on my 12 mile drive home (highway and town roads). Maybe a little difference but it could be placebo effect. I'll know more as I drive it, big test will be the cold morning reverse to drive delay....which was pretty noticeable in my vehicle.

Still really like my truck but souring on Toyota and their bullshit.

I have the 4 banger so I don't need the flash. No idea why the 6 and 4 have the same weird sound.

i have a dash-cam in my truck. i just checked and it caught the howling sound which we are discussing. i have a vibe-spectrum analyzer which showed the tone stationary at 1320 Hz. when i checked your you-tube link it was exactly 1320 Hz as well. sounds like some kind of metallic resonance getting excited somewhere in the driveline, tranny, or attachment, causing the ringing.
