One down, one to go. At least it is drive able now. Wonder if the water messed with some of the components of the air pump? Might have to look it over.

Installed today. Went for a drive. While out ran out of power for 3rd-5th gear and it started knocking worse than the 87 4Runner I'm driving now that has server rod knock.

 

That is strange. When you turned the truck off and turned it back on, did it still have knock?

 

Yes. And it was 10 times worse

 

Uh oh. Drain some oil and look for shavings.

If you didn't have bad luck, seems you'd have no luck at all.

 

Turns out the knock was actually the balance shaft chain flopping around. A bolt holding the tensioner broke as well as a few plates and the tensioner itself. Ended up eating the bearings for the balance shafts. Looks like we are going to replace the bearings and reinstall the shafts and just leave the chain off.

 

Had the bearings spin, in my friend's tC, for his counter balance shafts. They no longer spin either now.

 

Well there, that sounds like finally a bit of GOOD(-ish) luck in the middle of a run of bad. Funny though that the "bad thing" just turned out to be "not that bad".
