    About $15k worth of suspension upgrades and a supercharger.

    And now I'll settle in and watch this discussion devolve. :popcorn:

    I don't think a supercharger is neccesary to match the 5.4's performance. The power to weight of the Taco is greater than the p/w of the raptor.

    Taco=236hp/4070lbs(4x4 access cab auto 4.0)= 0.057985257985258

    Raptor=320hp/5863lbs=0.054579566774689

    WOW that much in supension upgrades?
    Yeah someone on here posted a quote from a raptor forum who previously owned a tacoma and felt like is old taco was faster and how he had to get use to driving a full size.

    I think the Raptor has a larger engine available than the 5.4 that puts out 400+ HP

    I would take a LT DC 4x4 Tacoma with some URD goodies and rock that shit:D

    An example of one I would like would be 06Haole's LT Taco and add said Superchared from URD!

    I wasn't sure if that came out yet. For sure, I'd pick a lt'd taco over the Raptor any day. Other than the suspension setup I really don't like the Raptor much but I have to give Ford props for making an off road oriented vehicle. It would be awesome if Toyota followed.

    Rear long travel is a lot of fabrication. I think that number is actually a little low considering everything that should be upgraded and/or reinforced to properly handle abuse.

    Front LT kit: $3000
    Coilovers: $1000 (for 2)
    Extended 4x4 axle shafts: $600
    Bypass shocks (if applicable): $1600 (for 2)
    Front installation: $ depends on how much you do yourself

    Rear LT kit: $1700
    Bypass shocks: $2500 (for 2. Maybe less, maybe more depending on what you get)
    Rear installation: Remove all factory brackets, located and weld on new brackets, locate and weld new spring perches, build a bed cage with upper shock mounts, custom lower shock mounts, shorten driveshaft, etc.

    It gets expensive fast.

    I don't think the raptor has rear LT and the front shocks are internal bypass (meaning one single "tube" right?) are the kings the same? I am asking since you had kings at one point. And again I am just curious on what would be needed to make the tacoma equivalent to the raptor. :)

    I've had Walker Evans and a couple iterations of Fox shocks but have never run Kings.

    From what I've heard, shock build quality from best to less best (everything is relative and they're all pretty kick-ass) goes:
    Billstein --> King Race series --> Fox --> King PreRunner series

    The internal bypass shocks really are just that -- bypass shocks. Definitely cool technology in a tight package and performance far beyond a typical reservoir coilover. You'll need bypass shocks on your Tacoma to make it an equal setup, and that requires a bit of work.

    I think the Raptor travel is around 12" or 13" front and rear, so on our rigs we'd need at least the All Pro front setup but their LCAs won't allow for a secondary front shock so you're without the bypass. Deaver claims to give 13" of travel without going SUA with one of their leaf packs, so get that with some custom shock hoops and bypass shocks in the rear and it's promising.

    It knocks down the rear purchase price down to around $1000 but you're still looking at custom shock mounts and/or a bedcage.

    I forgot to include cost of fiberglass fenders in my original approximation, but they're not needed if going to AP route.

    Ford worked with Fox to create a pretty well-tuned machine. Grill appearance aside, I really can't fault the thing. It takes a lot of time, money, and testing to get a vehicle as well configured as that thing is from the factory.

    I heard that in the first quarter of 2010 Ford will introduce a 6.0L Gasoline V8. :eek::eek::eek:

    I would say you will at least need a huffer on a V6 Taco to keep up with that.

    Just my $0.02

    Downside to it all????
    There won't be too many gas stations you pass by without having to stop.:D
