Ive been going back and forth with my Discount Tire guys about 265/75/16s and they continuously tell me that when they put the 75's on peoples Tacomas that they complain about ride quality and that I really wouldnt be happy with the change.

Yet I often see threads about people going to this size from stock.

Anyone have anything to report in regards to how the ride changed when adding the 265/75/16s and specifically what tire they went to?

Ride was better but I think it would depend on which tire your get! Just got a set from Discount Tire myself and its smooth and quite.

Exactly. I run a P rated Hankook ATM and have no problem with harshness.

The Discount tire guys for some reason try to talk you out of buying bigger tires...its like their brain cant process putting a tire on a car thats different than what the computer tells them to.

I sent my girlfriend up there once to get a set of 31X10.50 BFG AT's on her Xterra. I told her to make sure they put 31X10.50's and to have to salesmen call me if he gives her any trouble....well she comes home with 30X9.50's because the salesmen told her thats closer to stock...WRONG thats smaller than stock! I was kinda pissed. But my girlfriend is sweet & innocent...so partially her fault :D

I would imagine they would ride better. I'm going to be putting some 265/75/16 BFG AT's on my taco in the next month or two and will be getting them from Discount Tire.

I thought this to be true as well and it probably is... I put a set of BFG AT's 265/75r16 on my taco (E rated) and they actually ride better than the Rugged Trails!

Don't know if it's the larger tire soaking up bumps or the heavier mass smoothing them out... I also haven't noticed a power loss, or mileage decrease (it is winter though).

Oh, and shop locally...You might find a good deal on them and not have to pay shipping. I got my tires for 770. Mount, balance, and tax out the door!

Nice! Yeah Id love the BFGs, but they are pretty damn expensive compared to the competition. Id probably avoid a E rated tire as well.
