Toyota will probably never lend them another vehicle for a test

He is pretty much spot on though. That bed step is a must have, I really don't get why no height adjustment on the seat, and we all know the powertrain is lacking for the money. Very honest review.

    Still love the truck though.

I'd like to see him re-review after the tranny ECU update. Most say it makes a WORLD of difference.

Spot on review. "It seems as though Toyota is resting on their laurels here... giving us 5 years of innovation when we were expecting 10." Doing the math there, they half-assed it. :(

I watched this vid before buying and many others also. It didn’t stop me from buying it, and would do it again in a NY sec.
But I’m not having any issues. I agree with the review, yes you have to step on the gas pedal when you’re cruising and want to pass. they’re all like that.
But how hard is it to press the ECT button if gas mileage is of no concern to you??
At one time not that long ago ppl had to manually press a clutch and push a lever constantly if they wanted to go someplace.
Have we gotten that lazy and unappreciative? Really??
I mean to say that now we have a real choice here (ETC-S-M-regular) and the best of both worlds is here, yet ppl still bitch, and bitch, and complain for nought.
And I’m not talking here about ppl that may have legitimate issues, some are really saints compared to me because I have no patience for dealing with chit, and would have dropped a POS at a trade.
I’ve done it before, I know how to cut my losses and aggravation, but that’s just me. But these saints with issues are trying to hold on. My hat’s off to them, and if I can offer any advice, feel free to PM me.

Have a great day, stay safe.
    Cheers!

As a tall guy the seat thing to me is kind of no brainer in a mid size truck. What a way to drop the ball.

It's as if no one in toyota drive this truck at the height of 6ft or more.

$4k- $6k lost to depreciation on trade-in buys a lot of aggravation and "holding on"

I wish the ECT worked like the ECO button on the Honda. It remembers the last state so you don't have to keep pressing it every time.

The truck is mediocre at best. They had a chance to hit a real big home run and they fell far short.

Yeah, but you would get a great price and a really deep discount on a Jeep or Ram 1500 that you might, just might come out even and maybe a little change left over??
Just a though, keep on trucking man. No way a rear end should fail twice. Get the right install and you will be fine.
    Cheers!

Good review. Pretty funny he blew one of the brand-new OEM "off road" tires on a fairly mild trail.

The 3.5L is beastly with a manual shifter. Get up into those higher revs and it roars.

I think Toyota flew in those popular car magazine and internet car reviewers for their demo and debut in Washington. I bet that is why those reviewers weren't too hard on it. Paid trips and hotel stay with first access to a "new" model.

If they showed their true honesty during a demo like that, Toyota wouldn't invite them back for another model debut.

Any magazine or publication that a Car OEM advertises in, will have a biased review (favorable) because you don't want to cut off your revenue stream.
