Got mine done yesterday, and it seems to have helped. I'm looking forward to the changes it made No grief was given only they were not aware of the update yet it was found and done. However I know the writer from a 2000 corolla I owned that I battled with corporate on for a lemon law on after 3 new transmissions in 12000 miles I have had 7 new Toyotas. I have the SR edition with steel wheels this is not related but I found some wheels from a 2014 with tires on them only my TPMS sensors wouldn't swap wrong angle any suggestions on my 2016 they had rubber stems and no tpms.

Do they still need to replicate the issue even if the vin is on the tsb??
I already left it with them and they couldnt replicate it. This morning was the worste. I counted 7 seconds of limbo between reverse and drive

Anyone have luck with dealers in Columbia, SC? I'm taking mine to Jim Hudson today but I'd like to have a backup if possible.

I'm driving to work on a route I know well with no traffic. I'm going to drive in D without going into s5 and see what happens...

The door says 29. Most of us run them harder
They told me they couldn't replicate it because they drove around the streets. But they did flash anyway because the VIN was in the group listed

It's important to get your tread flat with the road. It wont' happen with 48psi, especially in the rear. You'll get better mileage but your tires will wear the middle bald with 90% tread left on the shoulders lol. I suggest doing a chalk test:

Edit: Just to clarify, the chalk test will show you if you are quite a bit off of where you should be with tire pressure. Keep in mind the sidewall pressure listed on the tire is the MAX the tire can hold, not the normal operating pressure. From the scale I put my truck on it says my truck is around 4800lb, with me in it (access cab). If the sidewall rating is 51psi and the tire rating (for your off-road stock tires) is 2484lb per tire (I got this from tirerack, with goodyear adventure kevlar 265/70R16, correct me if I'm wrong) then we should calculate as follows:

    tire max load x 4 = 2484 x 4 = 9936lb max vehicle weight

    tire load % = 4800/9936 = 48%

    recommended tire pressure = 51psi x 0.48 = 24.5psi

This is probably skewed since the front is much heavier than the rear. Also, you'll get better ride quality and steering response with a little more pressure so I'd recommend 28-32psi.

I'm going in to drop mine off Wednesday night in Calgary as well (Stampede Toyota) and was a little worried that the "Market: USA" thing may bite me in the ass even though my VIN is included. I was previously in for fluid check a couple months ago and that service form specifically stated "delay from R to D", so I'm hoping that may help me out in convincing them this is a real thing.

They did my fluid check with no complaints, so I'm hoping they will be on board with this as well.

You'll be fine like that at 48lbs if the sidewall says 51. I've run all mine like that and have discarded them after 70k with usable life left. But its important to rotate them every 5-7k and keep them balanced.
Running a tire under inflated at higher speed could build up heat and make it subject to a blow out. That's the very reason It states on the side wall MAX load pressure.
In other words, If you're running max loads, air up! If not, stay a few lbs under it to counter middle thread wear, get longer overall tire life, better mileage, and handling.
But if you want better traction, more ride comfort go with the sticker on the door pillar.
    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

Hey Canadians, any more info on how Canadian dealerships are handling this? I have an appt at the dealer tomorrow to fix noisy wipers and get tranny fluid level checked. I'm going to bring the tsb printout with me and see what they say.

Hey guys wanted to pass along my feedback. I just got the tsb update done to my 2016 double cab. Prior to the update I was experiencing
    1) a major delay from reverse to drive (probably 3-5 seconds each time)
    2) surging when pulling out slowly from my garage or pulling into the garage
    3) shift points seemed sluggish and off causing acceleration especially in first gear to be slow

These were my major issues prior to the update. Since then
    1) minor to almost zero delay from reverse to drive! This was a huge win for me as before the surge and lunge of it hitting drive was concerning of damage.
    2) no more surging when pulling slowly in or out of garage. Another huge win as nothing sucked more to be creeping in on your tool box for a sudden surge to take place and damn near hit the toolbox.
    3) first gear is a whole lot more responsive now

All of these are huge wins for me as I love my truck and this tranny concern was the only real drawback! Good luck to all the others with the update!

After experiencing the surge pulling into the garage my wife has refused to drive my truck again. So my question is should I not get it fixed or have it fixed and just not tell her?

@melikeymy beer ^^^^ that was epic hahaha! Solid point. In your shoes I would fix it and not tell her. She already has the fear so she won't test the waters again hahahah

Used the online scheduler to setup an appointment with Wilsonville Toyota in NW Oregon for friday afternoon. Hopefully they won't give me any issue about having to replicate it. The random surging in stop and go traffic is annoying. I'll update on how they handle it when I go in!

Boss ignored that I had a work offsite scheduled for tomorrow and scheduled me for a presentation during my appointment. Had to reschedule for Monday.

I left my truck in D when going up the hill and it only shifted into 5th instead of 4th. Before, it would hold 6th too long and then drop down through 5 to 4. This time it dropped to 5 a little earlier going up the hill but did not drop to 4. Then it upshifted near the top and held 6th all the way over

Went in Yesterday to the dealer in Port Moody BC Canada and second time I commented on the tranny. They tried to do the tsb I showed them as mine is on the list a Texas made dz5bn and failed to do the update five times ? They did however do a manual inspection and found and added .5 quart of tranny fluid. So far No difference any ideas go to a diff dealer ? Also I thought dealer could adjust odometer to calibrate for diff tire size they said not poss true/false anyone!

My dealer said they could not make the adjustment for different size tires.

i actually had the service guy notice i was coming in to talk about the purchase of a fleet truck for my company and came and told me they had a tsb for it. I went from sales floor straight to service department and its going in tomorrow. Nothing required of me since he knows ive had issues in the past

I've been complaining to my dealership of this issue since taking delivery in October. My sales rep is a good friend, also driving a 2016 Tacoma and he has been experiencing the same issue and talking to service about it. I have my 16000 km service (yup, Canada) scheduled for Thursday so I emailed my buddy the TSB and asked that he bring it to the tech's attention. I'm hopeful that they will take care of it rather than blow me off as it originated in the states. I'll fill you in on the results.

On a side note, my BSM failed mid winter and the dealership has been telling me it can't be fixed till they get a special calibration tool...6 months now and no tool! Getting a little pissed at Toyota.

Good luck! I called Toyota of Portland first and they said if I don't have a symptoms that is described on TSB they won't do it. Next day I went to Ron Tonkin(last Saturday). I just walked in showed advisor TSB on my phone and they took my truck. I was there for four hours but I'm happy with update!

Went to the dealership here in Mesa, AZ. Brought in the TSB PDF and before I mentioned it he said no problem they will take care of it. Didn't even have an appointment. I really can't believe some of the stories I've seen of people who present with a TSB and still get refused.
