Makes me wish I would've sprung for the extended series.

My new ARB cover zips on three sides only. Is it best to have the one non zipping side facing the front or rear? The tent is being mounted on a bed rack below the height of the cab.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
I would think that you would want it to face in the direction that would have the least wind buffeting as to keep as much water and debris from being forced under the cover.

Another question for you all... I have a CVT extended Mt Shasta... I think it's mattress is comfortable enough but the lady would like something with more padding... What have you guys done to add soft support to your RTT mattresses? What seems to be the most popular way?

    - I would rather not stack blankets.
    - Would ideally find a cheap mattress topper that would still fold with the tent when packing up.
    - Would consider the idea of replacing the mattress all together with something else, if so, what?
    - Open to ideas...

    Thanks TW!

To follow up my own research from the post above.

How did this mattress topper work out for you?

I think most put down a memory foam mattress topper. 1" was plenty for me and my wife, but we are on the light side (115 and 150lbs). There are a couple different ones listed in the products below this thread. We got ours on Amazon for $40 and we love it. Makes it just as comfortable as sleeping in the house.

Of course, I noticed the products below after I made the post... Still new here... Haha

Do you have a sheet or blanket over it? Or do you just throw a sleeping bag over the top?

Do you have the 2 inch or 3 inch thick one? 3 inches seems a bit of overkill.

My wife and I bought two old sheets from goodwill and sewed them together into basically a giant pillow case which covers the mattress and topper. It's nice b/c the sheet never gets messed up during trips from opening/closing or tossing and turning. It's a little bit of a pain to put back on after washing it, but with two people its not bad and usually ends up in laughs as we both struggle up there.

Since i moved from a ground tent, i just threw my inflatable hiking mats under the stock foam. Works well enough, but i plan on getting something a little thicker (side sleeper)

So my CVT Mt shasta really impressed me. I just got back from my trip up to the arctic circle and on the Dalton Highway. One night we camped just north of the Brooks range and atigun pass. When we pulled into camp at about midnight it was decent out, but we awoke around 3am to at least 50mph winds and freezing rain. I thought my RTT was gonna fly off my truck but it held up. Note to self, don't camp in the open tundra.

This was the spot right next to Galbraith Lake, the weather changed so quickly. I hadn't staked down the overhang but I hurried out of the tent and did it when the wind picked up.

My CVT doesn't like to open completely flat...is there something I should look for to fix that?

Ladder angle. Drill new holes so the ladder isn't as tall since you are using short bed bars.
