So if the engine's cutting out at stop lights, etc, how's it keeping the AC running? The electrical is easy, you're just hitting the battery vs running off of the alternator, but the AC compressor needs to be turning to keep cooling.

I have no idea, neither did he. I know Ford went to an electric power steering system in their vehicles so it's possible I suppose that the compressor is electric also :notsure: Could be that the condenser is just getting cold while the engine is running, then just working off the tank of cold liquid between engine starts and, if sitting for too long, maybe the engine would fire up to keep things cool. I have no idea, I didn't experience that when I was riding with him.

This might be a dumb question but I'll ask anyways. So I picked up the trailer axle from my dads a couple weeks ago. I rebuilt the bearings races etc etc . Does the trailer tell you what size ball it needs ? I forgot to look last time I was down there. Also it's a 14' aluminum boat how does it attach to the trailer ? Just the crank at the front of the trailer ? Or do I need to bring Rachet straps . I've never owned a trailer of any sort or a boat so I'm a complete noob .
    Thanks

I believe the tongue should be stamped with the ball size it will accept. If it's light, it's probably a 2" ball.

Generally, the crank at the front is used to drag the boat up to the front of the trailer and you use 2 ratchet straps from the rear of the boat to the trailer to keep it in place. For short trips, the crank is probably fine (like less than a mile just to get the boat in the water) but for traveling, I'd use a ratchet strap or 2 to keep it in place on the trailer.

Yeah it's a pretty lightweight setup . I'll be towing it with my gmc 2500 . Thanks mike . I'll. Check the tongue for the stamp then find a store down there to buy one.

Many bumpers will need to be removed to install the winch. Only a few I have seen that have a plate you can remove for access like CBI's

The coupler tongue lever should have the size engraved on it, or sometimes on the coupler itself near the main beam. Sometimes have to wet it to read it. For my boat, I never haul it even a mile without the transom straps and a safety chain. Also, not knowing how your trailer is set up, make sure the winch strap is positioned under the bow stop, not over it. I have heard horror stories of people getting in accidents where the boat ends up in your back seat or worse. The winch strap under the bow stop will prevent the boat from going forward off the trailer if you stop real short.

I'm not so sure I'd like a turbo vehicle use stop start technology. I think one would be just asking for the oil to coke up the hot bearings.

Reese makes a ball that has interchangeable balls. That's the one I have. My car trailer takes a big one and my dads boat trailer takes a small one. Has a little spring loaded stem that the ball locks on to.

Just looked it up, that's pretty neat. Right now I have 3 ball mounts, one with a 2", one with 2-5/16" and one with 2-5/16 for a W/D setup. Too many balls!
