Billie 5100/Stock UCA Question

    Pioneer DEH 8400 head unit/deck, Crunch 1100 watt amp, 12" Kenwood subwoofer, Kicker mids & tweeters, AllPro front tube bumper, Smittybuilt tow hooks, (welded pipe for muffle) straight-pipe, 4 orange "Raptor" lights in grill, Duratrac tires, American Eagle rims, ProComp 2" front leveling kit, Plasi-Dipped black on chrome trim, PIAA fog lights w/ in-cab switch, Unidin CB/Firestik II/8 ohm PA speaker, TRD leather 5-speed shifter knob
    So I swapped my stock suspension on my 03 TRD ext cab for bilstein 5100s (set at 0") with OME 881 coils. The truck rides well but I'm noticing that the UCA will hit the top of the wheel well and make a harsh clicking sound on almost every speed bump, harsh turn, etc. I would like to just trim the wheel well where it is hitting so it will travel up a bit farther and get rid of the noise but I want to make sure I don't fuck up anything else in terms of travel. Anyone else have experience with this?

    Sorry, not the top, it's like the two lower arms on it are hitting the edge of the wheel well directly above it, I'll go take pictures

    A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
    Yeah, pics. I am in doubt that the upper control arm is hitting the top of your wheel well. Could be wrong though.

    When I shake the truck that thing gets dumbass close together, but no click, then when I drive over a bump at a faster speed and the whole truck bounces, the clic comes back. That's why I believe this is most likely the cause but I wanted to make sure that the trimming of that wheel well is okay to do without causing issues with maybe too much travel in the strut

    If you trim it around where it's hitting, you shouldn't have any issues. Very strange that you have that much up travel with a lift over stock.

    I know and I think it's weird that so many people have done the 5100/eibach (or OME) combo and this question has never been raised before, or maybe it has and I just couldn't find it

    Huh, well this is concerning...I just ordered this exact same lift kit (5100's and 881s) for my 2004

    Did you leave the 5100s set at 0"?

    Yes I left them at 0, and I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you I researched for 40+ hours before I made that decision but I do have some extra weight up front due to the V6 and a tube bumper.. So let me trim this and I will get back to you with results

    lift isnt causing this. should help if anything. actually that shouldnt be possible at all. only thing i can think of is that the body mounts are SHOT!

    Funny you say that because the body mount is what I thought it was at first. Only reason why i think it's the UCA is because normally the bump stop on the LCA would restrict it but the 5100/OME 881 is a taller strut than stock. Also I just removed my sway bar and it is MUCH more frequent and noticeable and I think that's because there's more travel in each side now. Again o could be wrong but everything seemed to point to the UCA clearance. Which body mounts do you think it would be?

    kinda looks like the UCA isn't positioned properly on the UCA bolt (first pic)? is there usually that much space there? Or is it even possible for it to be mispositioned?

    I don't think that's the case because I've never even removed either of the control arms, I just dropped the lower arms to install the new shocks/springs

    the bump stop would restrict the travel yes. it still does... the travel hasnt changed just the ride height is higher.
