This trade was just a two parter. Bernier was traded as part of the original trade but held onto by the Leafs until the Leafs payed his bonus. The Leafs have done a couple of these kinds of trades over the last few years. It allows them to leverage trades with cash.

Leivo and Matthews signed with the Leafs today. Not that there was much doubt around either.

 

Leivo on his last shot this year with the leafs along with a couple other guys because they cant clear waivers. He will be on the roster for sure I think
