Posted my results in the other TSB thread as well..
Dropped my truck off at Camelback Toyota today for the TSB. My service advisor Ed was very helpful and said he'd do what he can to get the TSB completed. He also asked me if I had my ATF level checked yet.. I responded no since all the other dealerships refused to open the "sealed system". So a few hours later TSB is completed and my truck was found to have been OVERFILLED by 1.5qts. Called corporate about a case I opened in February for the tranny but they weren't willing to extend my warranty since there was no damage reported by the dealer.

Haven't had a chance to test the P --> R --> D yet or use cruise control but the shift points from 1-4 feel a lot more natural. No searching for gears and it does feel slightly quicker off the line. Overall I'm happy with the truck, now if Toyota can release a TSB for the steering wheel/gas pedal vibes they will fully regain my respect.

Troubling. Transmission damage unlikely to be diagnosed in a sealed system without tearing it apart. Could be issues now that don't pop up until 60K miles down the road. I'd make sure you keep it documented and even push the issue to have corporate investigate further into potential of damage due to overfill by that much %

    Well here's the latest.

    • R to D delay is gone
    • Less hunting ( had some 2 to 3 to 2 to 3) on a very slight grade in my hood
    • Cruise control is at least predictable
    • Leaving work I did notice a 2nd to 3rd rpm flare ( I'll watch over the next few days)
    • Still a bit sluggish unless you put your foot in it
It's at least marginally acceptable. Anemic, but adequate.

I bought my 2016 in April. I had it back to the dealer to check the fluid level at 720 miles, fluid level was fine. I took it in today for the flash. My initial response was good. Shifted great, down shifted fine. Could not prove R to D yet because it was already warmed up. I came home tonight and parked it. 20 minutes later I had to run my son to work. A 1/2 mile down the road I stopped at a light for a left turn. While making the turn, it felt like a dead pedal until about 1/2 throttle and then started responding. I'm not sure if it's because it's relearning or not, we'll see. MPG on last trip showed about 13.5 (sucks!). My overall on this tank has been around 16.5 MPG (before flash). I thought these truck get about 19-20? I will update tomorrow after checking R to D.

    Update 7-20-19
BTW, I got the sticker under my hood. I don't know why everyone is concerned about the sticker but I got it.

Mine was overfilled too. They didn't say by much.

I'm not convinced that slightly over or under will impact the performance or long term reliability of the trans. We're talking <5% fill error. Everything built in the modern world undergoes a sensitivity analysis. The trans should be robust enough to tolerate the variation in fluid level, to a point. Certainly single digit fill errors are acceptable.

Oh chit! This does worry me! Can you please post the build date and if new?

This first damage should show up as a seal leak, unless he's a heavy tower, if that's the case, he's fooked! :/

Can you provide your build date please? :/

Scheduling my appt tomorrow. Too excited.

The lag from reverse to drive is terrible in the morning when the engine is cold. If it only fixes that I'll be happy... If it makes it shift more effectively, I'll be ecstatic.

I posted a rather weak review in the other T-SB thread, so...

I had the T-SB completed on Monday of this week (18 July 2016). Or at least I think it was completed. I am skeptical because the service department didn't attempt to replicate the symptoms, my paperwork was vague and didn't indicate the T-SB number, I didn't get the modification sticker added under the hood, and I haven't experienced any "mind-blowing" differences from before. Maybe they just flashed my ECM a-la "battery disconnect" and didn't follow the procedures in the T-SB? Maybe they actually did the T-SB but my shifting issues prior really weren't that significant to warrant a huge change in driving characteristics? Maybe I am just paranoid because of the lack of mod sticker and proper documentation? Regardless, my observations IRT the OP's results request:

    1) "If the TSB has fully eliminated your problems or notice significant differences" - I really haven't noticed what I would deem significant differences (subjective). This could be due to the fact that I didn't quite have all the issues stated in the T-SB. I had only experienced the delay from P-D or R-D/D-R a few times before (not a common occurrence for my truck), but I can report that it hasn't happened once during the last few days. I am not sure what the harsh upshift from 1st to 2nd is so I probably didn't have that either. Either that or I thought it was normal, my only other experience with a Tacoma was with my 2014 Baja. My current truck would feel very sluggish in first and second (non-ECT), and it now seems to have more response in the lower gears after the T-SB (might be placebo effect) similar to what some folks have described as driving with 1/2 ECT engaged. I did have the delayed upshift issue with the cruise, as well as an issue where the truck would jump from 6th to 4th on the slightest of rises. From what I can tell it after using the cruise 3 separate times over the last 3 days, I haven't had any issues with the truck not upshifting in a timely manner and it maintains 6th the majority of the time. Also, the cruise shifting has gone 6-5-6 when required for slight elevation changes (I live near the coast) without requiring a jump from 6th to 4th.

    2) "If any new issues were created by the software" - None, unless you count my own paranoia that the dealer pulled a fast one on me and didn't actually do the T-SB.

    3) "If you noticed an mpg difference/power changes" - The only power changes I have noted, which could be subjective, are more responsive/smooth power and shifting throughout all gears (primarily 1-4). I used to put it in ECT when I wanted more power/response, but now I don't really see the need. For MPG, I think it is too soon for me to give an accurate estimation of loss/gain. My daily drives over the past few days have been within the ballpark of a 18-22 MPG average, which is what I was seeing before. One thing I did notice is that it seems my MPG has improved slightly on my morning commute (18.X normal, now 19.X), while my afternoon commute has dropped slightly (21.X and now 20.X). The fluctuation is not that significant and it has only been a few days, so I am not putting too much stock into those numbers or my overall MPG in general until I get some more miles on the T-SB.

    4) "If you had your fluid level inspected at any point" - I had my fluid level checked and topped off a few months back. According to the paperwork from the service department, my transmission was a quart low.

    Hope my ramblings above help...
    Cheers!

I had a very slight R to D delay his morning. If I wasn't looking I probably wouldn't have noticed, but it was there. Not enough pressure on C1?

If your truck is in the VIN range, call Toyota Corporate and have them open a complaint ticket.

BTW, I got the sticker under my hood. I don't know why everyone is concerned about the sticker but I got it.

I took off for work this AM and was so excited about checking the R to D that I left my cell phone at home. I got about a block away and went back to the house. Parked and turned off truck and went in the house.
I got to try it out twice and both times there was no delay from R to D. It seemed to fix it.

Overall I am very pleased with the results.

    1) if the TSB has fully eliminated your problems or notice significant differences
Got mine done yesterday. So far, the delayed engagement is gone. The truck feels much better on the freeway. It seems to more eagerly drop to 5th without having to mash the pedal which was giving me the dead pedal/gutless feeling. When it grabs 5th it is in a better power band, and doesnt seem to need to drop to 4th.

In town it definitely feels different-particularly, it seems to hold gears longer but my guess is that the sensatio nis mostly due to clearing the adaptive learning. Time will tell

The surging during parking is gone.

    2) if any new issues were created by the software

    None that I have noticed

    3) if you noticed an mpg difference/power changes
Dont notice "more" power, but the power feels more usable

    4) if you had your fluid level inspected at any point
Had 0.8 quarts added at 500 miles. Currently at 5000 miles.

My dealer had no idea what I was talking about either... Made them research it until they found the T-SB-0077 update. I had to explain symptoms that it cures, the number didn't help their search initially. Eventually he found the update and said to bring it on in.

I was the first guy at my dealer to get the update, waiting at the dealer now for them to download it from wherever they get it.

Got my TSB complied with, and I've noticed major improvements.

The delay from park or reverse gear to drive is greatly reduced.

I no longer get stuck in a certain gear with cruise control enabled.

Someone has said it earlier in this thread, but it is the perfect explanation of how it feels just driving around, "it's like a 1/2 ECT PWR mode".
