We can move the "mod day" doesn't have to be the 30th. If I make plans now I'm good any weekend after this one before anything gets scheduled lol

As of now, I'm planning to hit Talladega 600-1 & 600-2 this weekend sometime. From what i've read it's pretty easy, but some parts are washed out pretty good, so there may be some interesting sections. Trying to decided if I want to hit it from the north (downhill) or from the south (uphill). Girlfriend is working nights this weekend so I camp if I go Sat.

Did 600-1 on father's day, started off hwy 148 out of sylaguaca (downhill) I liked it better than going uphill. But, I also have a 6-speed, so very little braking needed. I haven't done 600-2 yet, but one day. I'd go with you but I don't think I'll have the time. Have FUN and give us a trip report with pictures.

How was the trail? Was it overgrown with pinstripers?

Ive done 600-1 a couple months ago and was no problem at all. Depending on which day you go, if you want company, I'm down to check them out again.

When I went last spring, they both had good clearance for branches. 600-1 was easy, just mainly dirt pack starting at the south going north. About midway, it changes to a bunch of small 4" rock (maybe a little bigger) that just want to bounce you around and make you love your kidneys. Then they had put down fresh gravel on the last part. I liked to camp toward the north end of 600-1 there is a great open bluff with beautiful overlook. Watch out for the chiggers thou.

600-2 was a little more of a challenge. There were some damn fine ruts cutting through it in some places. We didn't have any problems, but if you fell off into one, it might high center you. One of the Huntsville guys had built an offroad trailer for his tent and such and he pulled it through the trail with no problem. We did run across a small tree fall on that trail and moved it out of the way.

Of course that was a year ago.

    Thanks, Brian.

The most recent report that I've read was from May of this year. I'm not looking to get stuck, so I hope to have no high centered situations.

If I do, at least I wont be in the middle of the Cahaba with my frame sitting on a big rock this time.

I may be having a body lift party coming up soon if anyone would like to join! This just in, it should be a much easier install than the last attempt on my 4Runner!

Yeah, 2" lift and better meat on the tires definitely helps too.
