New tires for my truck

I'm looking at getting some new A/T tires for my taco. Right now i have some wimpy bridgestone dueler h/t that came with my trd sport. I kinda narrowed it down to either the bridgestone revo..nitto terra grappler...or yoko geolander a/t-s. Does anyone out have these on their truck and if so..what do you think? Also, in i will be changing my tire size from the stock 265/65/17 to the 265/70/17. Will getting a slightly bigger tire affect my gas mileage that bad? I know its an A/T tire but i have heard you can still get the same gas mileage. thanks

Alex, I had the same dilema this past December. I have the 06 TRD Sport that came with Duelers. After going off-roading a few times, I shredded those tires.

After looking for a while, I ended up getting the BFG All-Terrains. They look awesome!!!

However, I did see my gas mileage suffer. Stock, my truck gave me about 320 miles per tank. After I installed a K&N Air Intake, it gave me about 350 miles. Once I got the new tires, I'm now getting about 320 again.

I got the 265/70/17 on the TRD Sport 5-spoke wheels. Even though they are almost the same size, the BFG A/Ts are heavier than the stock Duelers. I noticed because I rotate my own tires and after rotating them for the first time, I noticed a pretty good difference in weight than the old Bridgestones.

I don't regret getting them, they make the truck look so much rugged. My .02

 

What made you get the BFG? Had you looked at the Revos or Nitto? Also, have you noticed any change in the speedometer? Did it get affected at all?

 

I've always had BFGs on my trucks, that's why I leaned towards them more. Also, I got a great deal on them - I think I got them for about $620 for all four and went to WalMart and got them balanced and installed for another $35.

As far as a change in the speedometer, it wasn't affected. It still runs exactly as when I had the Duelers. I also have a GPS nav system and the speed on it matches what's on the speedometer.

 

i dont have either one of those tires but i have heard and read nothing but great reviews of the revo. i just couldnt afford the tire and wanted something similar in weight with the stock so i went with the p265-70-17 toyo open country a/t. the tire is only 38 lbs which is 3 lbs more than stock. so mpg shouldnt change. but if u go to a bfg tire those suckers weight around 50 pounds and will hurt ur mpg

 

I've owned both the Bridgestone Dueler Revo and the Yokohama Geolander A/TS and I have to give the nod to the Bridgestone. It seems to be a little quieter and I like the ride better. Both had great traction though. I've heard great things about Toyo.

 

got 265/75/16 Nitto Tera Grapplers & really like them...

 

anyone like the General Grabber A/T2? toyo Open A/t? they are lot cheaper

 

I saw the toyo open country tires the other day and will be buying those when mine are ready to be replaced. They are the manliest looking tires I have ever seen and from what I have read last a long time thanks to the type of rubber they are made of. I've got BFG All-Terrain T/As and I love them, they look awesome. I really don't know about mileage I don't really pay attention.

 

i see the price on tire rack on General that were like $115, the BFG A/T and Reno is like $170... anyone the know the price of the toyo open country? I like the Nitto Terra Grabbler but its looks like hard to get hold of them!

says $175 a tire, plus $19 a tire to balance and stem.... rip off!!!

 

how much were those Nitto cost a tire? they sell too much of them in NJ

are they that good of a tire? people seems to love the BFG A/T
