I've got the same issue as you man...Tranny was 3/4 liter low... checked it myself... The BSM went for a shit the first time I drove in snow and slush.. Take it in...."we don't know what's wrong"... from the dealer... "we will call Toyota".... 3 weeks later...NO response from the Fer's..
    Toyota's customer service is Non-Existent...!!!!
I've got a "case #" and all that, but it don't mean shit.... They are a bunch of dumb asses that don't know shit and have to have Toyota send them a computer program to diagnose the truck...(they are too busy looking for a Pokey Man, or whatever..)..hehehehe
What ever happened to the local mechanic/grease monkey... He could fix any car or truck... Just listen to it and fix it...!

In my case I'm talking about shifting going over hilly areas. It shifted awesome for three days, I drove over some hills and it performed very well!

Just had the TSB ECU flash done today. My results...bland.

I have a little over 1,000 miles on the truck and this is my 4th trip to the dealership, driving the same routes each time. I've had the fluid checked and it was low, they fixed that. Now today they performed the TSB.

The shift points, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, seem to have changed. Getting on the freeway was much easier and 1 through 4 held longer than before. Around town the gears seem to hold longer as well.

R-D and D-R seem no different to me and it still has an long delay in my opinion. My biggest complaint is the jolt/rev when your backing up a hill. I almost don't want to park it in the garage anymore because getting in the driveway it lurches backwards as I'm backing into the garage.

I haven't tried the cruise control so no comments there.

Is anyone in the San Diego area that has NOT done the TSB and we can compare feel? I'm getting to the point that the driveability may be in my head but I'm pretty confident it isn't.

Sounds like realistically the TSB is not making much difference on driving performance, it is mostly Placebo and the effect of resetting the ECU until the transmission goes back to shit performance. That Sucks.

I was going to wait a month and ask folks again about their post-TSB perceptions. The reset ECU should hopefully level out in a month.

You're hilarious in your determination to have a negative opinion. It doesn't sound or feel like that at all. If my R to D delay comes back then you'll be correct. Like I said before. Judge the TSB only on the items it states it will address. My biggest gripe, by far, was the hanging 4th gear in CC. Won't be able to evaluate that until this weekend.

If most feedback was saying it had a major improvement I would agree but I believe there are some more level heads here providing honest feedback that there has been not that much improvement. Also you have to discount the fact that resetting the ECU improves trans performance to some degree on it's own...WITHOUT update. So how much is just the reset playing into perceived improvement? I just don't see the overwhelmingly positive feedback to concrete this as "sealing the deal"

Must be a matter of interpretation because I sense almost everyone stating To D delay is gone and CC performance related to hanging 4th gear as improved.

That is pretty dang good information to bring into the dealership tomorrow. I doubt it will be resolved but I am going to ask that they send it up to corporate and let them see if they can figure something out. They finally have my parts for the wind howling issue

Thanks OP for bringing this to everyone's attention and attaching the PDF for the TSB. I'm new to the TW forums but I have been lurking around for a while and I'm glad to see such a great online community of Tacoma enthusiasts.

I took my truck in to Redlands Toyota on Monday with printed TSB in hand and told the SA my VIN was on the TSB and was having the listed symptoms. He said that the flash would be permanent and "you can't go back." My response was, "it has to be better than whatever is on the computer now. Sign me up." Took me right on over to the appointment gal and I'm going in tomorrow morning at 8 AM.

I'm sorry that some of you are having such difficult times with dealerships acknowledging the TSB and giving you the proverbial run around; especially you guys up in the great white north. I think we can all agree that the tranny is not up to snuff and let's hope Toyota continues to monitor this and hopefully address the "gear searching" issue while trying to negotiate small hills (it's an effing JOKE!).

Is that where you bought your truck? I might swing by there.. I got mine at Longo toyota but they already gave me a hard time about just checking my tranny oil.

I think this question was for me. Let me know if it wasn't. Just assuming because you're in So Cal too. I bought mine from John Elway/Crown Toyota in Ontario. The sales team really rubbed me the wrong way and I can't speak for their service dept but usually stealerships of that size don't give a crap about their customers...just profit$. Moved to the IE 4 years ago and Redlands was closest to me and took my gen 2 '09 SR5 there for service. Straight shooters in service. Wife ending buying a Camry from them (internet sales team was solid too). Give them a shot if it's not too far for you.
