Tire Dilemna

Ok guys,

The Toyo A/T's that came on my truck are just about gone. Currently I have some 16" first gen tacoma wheels on my second gen that the previous owner put on with 265/70/16 tires. I am in the market for a set of BFG A/T's.

I called discount tire and they only sell D&E load ratings in 265/75/16 for the BFG A/T's..with the higher ply sidewall I know it will affect my gas mileage a little bit due to heavier tire. The D's are $214 a tire installed and the E's are like $190 a tire. $986 OUT THE DOOR! OUCH!

They do however offer a C rated BFG in 265/70/17 but its pretty much the same price..I think $1 less per tire.

Do I buy a set of 17" Sport wheels and go with the C rated BFG's or stay with a 16" wheel with the E's and get a little worse mileage...?

BFG=overrated, overpriced

 

I'm pretty much set on BFG AT's. they are a great tire I put a set on my girlfriend's Xterra and they performed excellent. They last a long time and are proven quality.

 

i think were just saying to open your mind and look whats out there.there r some very good tires for less$$$ imo.

 

I too had the BFG's and they are a great tire, but IMO the General's are a better tire for less $. I am running them now and I have to say they are very much worth the money you would spend on the BFG's.

 

How long do they last?

 

12-13k and still look pretty new.

 

Don't be afraid to use the E rated BFG's. I just put a set on my truck and they actually ride better than the old Rugged Trails. Mileage hasn't changed either.

I got mine for 770 out the door.
