Cooper tires

anyone here running the Cooper discover ST tires. I have a set of Fj alloys that I want to put these tires on. 265/70/17 is what I am looking at and I found them online for $158 compared to local shop $206. Any idea how much mounting and balance would be if I went this route.

 

I've got the Cooper STT's and love them. I bought them on e Bay (free shipping) and had them mounted and balanced for about 75 bucks. I'm not sure about the ST's though.

 

u cant go wrong with coopers.decent tires overall imo.

 

Those look damn good, I really like the stt but I dont have a 4x4 so thought it would look funny. Trying to stay true to the vehicle type.

 

Just cause your not 4 wheel drive doesn't mean ya can't get cool tires

 

Had the STTs on my '05 Tacoma... look awesome, great in mud and rocks, but way too noisy on the highway. Terrible in sand where I do most of my four wheeling. Lasted between 35-40K miles (best of any tire), but the noise factor was too great. Cooper Discoverer ATs and Toyo ATRs were the brands after the STTs... both good and quiet!

 

love my Cooper STT so far. The tire shop accidentally put on the ST when I dropped the truck off and they did not look that bad, but I wanted my mud terrains Both are good tires overall.

 

I had the STTs too and they were real noisy, but did look good!!

 

Just noticed this thread and thought I’d post up my 2 cents. This morning I had 4 Cooper STs put on my 09 Double Cab. The stock BFG Rugged Trails were still in good shape but I wanted a more aggressive tread, a little larger tire, and an E load range. I choose the Cooper ST because it is more aggressive than an AT but not as aggressive as a MT. They also make a ST/C that is cut and abrasion resistant.

I’ve only got a dozen miles on these tires so I can only give my initial observation. Since I choose to go with a 10ply rated tire, I had them aired to 50psi. This provides a stiffer ride than my BFGs. I moved from a 265/70 to a 265/75. With a 2.5 in ToyTech lift, the 265/75s fill the fender wells nicely and don’t rub.

It’s freezing ass cold here in S Missouri and we have 6 plus inches of snow on the ground. When it warms up and I can get them clean, I’ll post up some pics of the new rubber.

No personal experience but I did research them before I picked up my definity dakota m/ts. I've read nothing but good things about the ST's

 

I am running the ST's got about 20000 on them I'd say they got another 10-15 left on them. They howel pretty good after some wear. I used to have the STT's belive it or not I liked the ride and the way the STT's drive better that my ST's. The ST's are wearing just about the same as my STT's.

 

If you can see past the road grime and salt you can see the new 265/75 Cooper STs. I had a 180 mile road trip this morning, all interstate speeds. Here are my observations:

-- A bit more road noise “howl” than the stock BFGs
-- E Load Rated Tires @ 50psi is probably overkill. The ride is stiffer and I feel the expansion joins in the highway more. I’ll play with tire pressure to get a more compliant ride. Hope that running these at 35 or 40 psi doesn’t affect the wear.

Looks good! Did you have them check your alignment during install?

 

I had the alignment set just after I installed the lift. However I was not very confident with the alignment technician. I’ve since found a shop that has experience with adjustable UCAs. In the next couple weeks I will make an appointment and have the alignment check again.

My 2010 4x4 Access cab arrives this week and the dealer is swapping out the factory tires for the STT's. I've always used Coopers and cannot say a bad thing about them.

 

Hey man those ST's will not disapoint you! My friend has a set on a chevy 1500 and i saw him climb a snow drift in 2wd! It was insane, im thinking about getting myself a set!!!

 

Truck is at the dealer's and should be ready for pick-up tomorrow. They installed Cooper ATR's on it when I asked for STT's. The ATR's are too much of a street tire for my liking. Is there a Cooper that you guys reccomend that is somewhere in between? I am looking for a smooth pavement tire with a bit of agression for dirt and off road use. Anyone use the ST-C's?

 

Never owned them but I am looking hard at the Cooper Zeon LTZ.

It looks cool... gets great reviews and seems to be priced very low for a tire like that.

Ive got cooper ST's on my truck and love them. We also have them on our F-350 dually. They work pretty good in every condition, but aren't as aggressive as there STT's.

 

If i were you I would buy the ST's! They won't rob you over the price and my friend gets 50,000 miles on a set!
