Oh I'm definitely going to get it and hope it makes a lasting improvement. The ECU reset in the past has been nothing but a short term tease

Got mine done yesterday. So far, the delayed engagement is gone. The truck feels much better on the freeway. It seems to more eagerly drop to 5th without having to mash the pedal which was giving me the dead pedal/gutless feeling. When it grabs 5th it is in a better power band, and doesnt seem to need to drop to 4th.

In town it definitely feels different-particularly, it seems to hold gears longer but my guess is that the sensatio nis mostly due to clearing the adaptive learning. Time will tell

The surging during parking is gone.

Dont notice "more" power, but the power feels more usable. Mileage is the same (very close) on my first short 15 mile trip

Had 0.8 quarts added at 500 miles. Currently at 5000 miles.

Definitely a valid concern and only time will tell at this point. I will say mine drives better then it did when i picked it up with 4 miles on it. So something is different. Even in the adaptive learning phase.

Supposedly they are doing it this week. I have a call into the dealer this morning to give me an update on the Regional Field Tech Rep who flew out from Denver and was supposedly reviewing my truck yesterday. I will report back when I hear something.

Resetting the ECU absolutely affects the performance, but only for about a month. I think everyone's positive reports so far are because of the reset. I have had my ECU reset twice, and after each time the truck drove like a brand new truck. Shifting was 1000% better, felt like a different truck like everyone says, drove like it should, and it was really a joy to drive. But same routine...A month later and it's back to its old self again. Shifting is terrible, delayed downshift, can't find gears, flaring, and all that stuff. Only time will tell if this TSB does anything. I have mine in the shop now HOPEFULLY getting the TSB done. I would take any post TSB reports with a grain of salt. Don't get me wrong, I sure as hell hope all these improvements stick. I am SOOOOO SICK of dealing with this. Been to the dealer 5 times about this crap.

This is EXACTLY what I am saying. People take it as me being overly negative/pessimistic...well OK maybe I am. But I am hopeful it is fixed permanently with the TSB, just have my doubts.

They let it cool for two hours. In my previous attempts to get the fluid checked I've left it overnight but then the dealership didn't even end up checking it. I'm reassured by the fact that on my service invoice it says that they "filled the transmission to factory specs". Regardless the truck is running great. Park --> Reverse --> Drive was super smooth this morning on a cold start and the truck is performing better than ever after the TSB and fluid "adjustment".

Ha. I was to the point where after the ECU reset i was going to just disconnect my battery for a half hour every month so that it kept clearing the learning so the truck would drive like it should lol

Another thing i noticed with my truck was that after ECU reset the truck drove amazing and MPG went up. As the month goes by I get lower and lower MPG as the truck starts driving like crap again. I barely get 15MPG (DC OR 4x4 3" lift KO2s). Best i have ever got on a tank is 18.5.

Maybe because you're compensating with a heavy foot to seek a "normal performance curve"? Just speculation but I agree and have had the same experience as you.

According to the TSB my number is correct.
    The 'previous number' was 08661-04K51.
    I don't know about yours.

Interesting....what was your service writers name, if I may ask?

FRIDAY: My truck (6 months old; 2200 miles) died last Friday in the middle of North College at 8 a.m. in the rain. pditty will know what that means. Two codes; a check trans temp, and check engine. After sitting in traffic for a few minutes was able to restart long enough to get out of traffic. Had left the cell at home, so used an adjacent business to call my wife. She hit "ignore caller" because she didn't recognize the caller. Walked the short 3/4 mile home in the rain. Called dealer Rogers, AR where I bought the truck (30-40 min away). "Service busy will call you back." They did not call back for an hour and a half. I researched and found that Toyota Care would only tow to nearest dealer anyway so I called Toyota of Fayetteville (closest to me and where I would have preferred to buy).

The good news: The Fayetteville dealer responded immediately with "where is the truck?" Asked me what phone number they should use. I gave it to them and they repeated it back. The left the shop immediately and were literally within 6 minutes met me at the truck with the Service Manager and master tech. I was in the turn lane when they called to see where I was (relevent later). "On new vehicles we literally drop everything". Cool; by this time it is 10 a.m.

The bad news: No update from them on Friday. So at 5:30 pm I called them. "We got one of the codes to stop, but not the other and have opened a case with Toyota and have not heard back". I'm thinking cool; seems like they are doing what they can, it's Friday, etc.

SATURDAY: I remembered that this TSB was now available and wanted them to complete that, complete the 6mo/5k service, check grease, u-bolts as and most importantly the trans fluid level POST applying the TSB. Went in Saturday a.m. and gave the only service writer available the TSB and added the other items. Updated contact info. Was given the name of the service writer "that had my truck". Chris Williams.

    MONDAY:

No word. I assumed they needed time to resolve and did not call.

TUESDAY: No word. Called them mid day. "I tried to call you at xxx.xxx.xxxx." This was an old phone number not in service for years. No idea how Toyota got this number. Chris pulls the ticket and exclaims "somebody added a bunch of stuff to the ticket". So he had not checked it Monday. He sees that part was ordered, "but needs to go talk to the tech and call me right back". No problem. No word for 45 minutes. I call Chris back who answers the phone immediately - "just got back". BS.

The part was a "modified crank sensor". "Part is in and should be done tomorrow." Chris says the truck does not need the 6mo/5k service ("Toyota has some 3rd party doing it wrong") and asks where I bought the truck. I tell him Rogers and his dealership had zero in stock in Feb. After quite a discussion where I give him the TSB number and he keeps telling me "we'll check the trans if it needs it" I manage to convince him that the TSB applies to my VIN. "I'll print the TSB and get it back to the Tech. Should be ready Wednesday."

Due to the fact that the local dealer came and picked up the truck immediately on Friday I was telling my wife (who now will at least let the phone go to voice mail!) we had found the right dealer. I'm now not so sure. I'm convinced that if I have to argue about whether it needs service I am going to have to argue about everything. We currently use the truck for camping and for me around town. I was hopeful to begin some light to mid off-road and later in it's life turn it into mostly an off-road vehicle. I really like it overall and don't see a decent alternative. But she is now concerned about the truck leaving us stranded with the camper and wants rid of it.

On a side note...My neighbor is a mechanical engineer who has both a 1st and 2nd gen in the driveway adjacent to ours. He has been pretty interested in the tech of the 3rd gen but I think has had a few chuckles at my expense on this one!

I clears the short term learning, does not clear all learning. After I did it the truck went from driving like complete crap to driving like a different truck. posted about it somewhere on here months ago. So it definitely did something
