You might want to look into that.....It should shift all the way up to 6th if you have selected "S" 6

Don't forget the lock-up torque converter, I believe it's called. It will feel like another gear....Kinda like a "half" gear that kicks in any time you are driving in "D".....usually like 3rd-6th I think.

It will feel like a half upshift....Clear as mud???

Had it at the dealer the other day and informed them of this. Told me I must have been going uphill or fighting a head wind and the computer will override the "S" mode to provide the proper parameters to keep the truck going. I've only dealt with the service department once at my/this dealer and they are very adamant on getting out of doing any kind of work/service. Pretty sure this thing could catch fire and they would have an excuse and tell me that's completely expectable.

S mode limits the shift. Will not force an upshift

I understand that. My problem is, I was on the highway doing 70mph. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why it would not let it go into 6th. Now, if I was being an horses rear and trying to manually shifty it into 6th while doing 12mph, I understand.

I have zero knowledge of the auto, but is there an overdrive off option for say, towing? Or is S mode the new overdrive off way to do things (my last truck/vehicle was a 2002, so a lot has changed)

The days of the OD button are long gone...lol. "S" mode is essentially the "slap stick" mode that pretty much all automatics come with now days. It's suppose to give the driver the control of when to shift. I've come to find some manufactures are much better at it then others.

i occasionally find myself looking at my stickshift to see what gear I'm in, but I've not regularly driven a stick in 20 years so I'm still getting used to it.

That's a big part of what the ECT button is meant for.

join the club every single time I have went to dealer service with an issue I have ended up fixing it myself.
dealer service in my experience, could, and should be eliminated .They are worthless in my opinion. They would rather argue for an hour. .than check something that would take a half an hour, and know for sure....They are just so f...n arrogant...
Whats the point of having service dept and warranty ,if you cant.get anyone to help.

That means the transmission limits your top gear to 4th....You still have 1st-2nd-3rd-4th.....It should not go into 5th-6th, unless you select 5th or 6th on your select shift by pushing the gear shift forward.
