Now that wonderful J. Brown has passed the last set of gun laws, how is it even possible to own an AR? Man, I swear I should've bought 6 or 7 years ago. CA just outlawed the bullet button workaround so I guess anyone wanting an AR now is screwed?

Also not to change the subject, but does anyone know if a CALI resident can purchased and own a Moss 930spx? If I cant do the AR route, that would be my next choice.

The guy who "invented" the bullet button already has a work around for the new CA law for AR's. Basically makes it so the mag wont drop free while the upper and lower are mated. You have to pull the rear takedown pin out and swing the upper up and then you can drop the mag free. Basically meeting the "must disassemble action to remove magazine" rule.

Thats my understanding of it though. Do a bit of googling and youll get a more solid answer. I gave up trying to understand CA gun laws so I could bring a gun or two when i traveled there for work. Now i just avoid the state all together.

No clue on the Moss 930spx though....best bet would be to call up a local gun store and ask them

Just cut down the pinned FSB. They are a great gas block. There's a member selling a bunch of rails in the buy/sell/trade section. Several members, myself included, have purchased from him and he's gtg. I'll post a link if I find his thread.

I might, never cut one down before.

Found it, I'm liking the troy 10" rail.

I've used the Troy Alpha and the Troy VTAC. Great rail if you want to use the mil-spec barrel nut. A little heavy, maybe, especially compared to all the ultralight options out there now.

Considering picking up rail D in a few weeks, gotta get an optic though so I have some type of sighting system.

I would assume that would also include the sale of stripped lowers.. But that would be giving them too much credit. So hopefully its only complete rifles :fingerscrossed:

They mention all copy or duplicate weapons are illegal as well. I don't believe you can build them. Happy to live in Alabama

Pretty sure that'd still be breaking the law because you reside in a State that its illegal effective today. So yes you could prbly do it but you'd risk becoming a felon. And actually since a lower requires a background check idk what would happen. Not to mention the out of state gun shop could face fines.

As a CO resident I've dealt with something similar.. Were not allowed to have a magazine over 15 rds. Happened in 2012, so any pmag made before july 2012 is legal to be 30 rd but after july 2012 they are limited to 15. We can go to Wyoming and buy all the 30rounders we want but its still technically illegal if it was ever proven that we have possession of a magazine thats not legal. NOW, no-one in law enforcement (sheriffs and local pd) will actually check unless you commit a crime with said magazine(but at that point you dont care about the law). Our sheriffs have told the politicians outright that it was unconstitutional and they will never enforce it.

Short answer I think is no. You can only buy a firearm in the state in which you reside. If you buy a gun out of state, the dealer must ship to a FFL in your state in order to complete the transfer.

Essentially haha. I can't read the article on work computer, but is possession in Mass. now a crime? But its hard for someone to prove how long you have had a firearm. (gift, inheritance, private sale etc)

I wonder if they'd be allowed to purchase used AR's from out of state.

So far no, Just the sale of new "assualt weapons"(ak, ar, etc). So basically all gun stores have to take down all guns in that category effective today. So if you bought one yesterday you're good...for now

*edit: No clue on the sale of used guns though

So a private sale from out of state is still legal. Interesting.

Edit: or private sales in general

Most states you can buy a long gun in a state (may be a neighboring state only?) other than yours without the need for an FFL transfer in your state, however all handguns must have the 4473 done in your home state.

But another thing the throw into the mix, You could still buy an 80% lower and build an AR that way without needing an FFL or background check.. soo there is a way around the law
