    Yeah, maybe I should try that...I need to get tougher. It's my first new vehicle and I barely got any deal off the MSRP. Idk if they will do it, but I guess it's worth a try.

    Yes.

    Doesn't matter if its in writing, they're supposed to cover it, and if the actual part fails, they should cover it. However, they'll find a way to run you around until you think your '16 Tacoma is a 1972 Dodge Ram with a blown motor you blew by constant tug of wars. Most dealerships do it, finance managers make money off warranties, service directors make money off up charging you. Its how their worlds spin and they don't care who keeps it spinning.

    Edit: I don't mean to make them out to be demonic. There are good people working at dealerships who have their head on the grindstone and are honest. However, those people can be few and far between.

    MSRP isn't going down much on a brand new truck. Especially a Tacoma.

    But them wanting to lift it, they'd kick that 2k down no problem. But come to the table WITH proof of the other quote. If they buck on your counter offer walk out.

    Everyone's quick to toss out the whole Magnusson Moss Warranty Act as though you can say those magic words to any dealership and they'll be like 'oh, yeah, you got us. We'll honor the warranty'. It's just not that simple. They're very much aware of that act and they will still tell you they won't honor your warranty, and then you have to go the legal route. Which means you're going up against them and their legal team, and if they have to find a way to prove that your aftermarket parts caused failure, they will. Just not worth the headache and hassle. Since they are offering to do it under the warranty, I'd take them up on it rather than going through a shop.

    One way of looking at it: I trust the off-road shop a lot more than I trust the dealership. I have dealt w/ this shop 3 times and they have always given an honest price and done good work.

    I think the best thing to do (like someone else said earlier) is to try and get them to honor that shop's quote, or at least come close to it. But they do have the whole warranty thing to hold over you, so they might not budge. Worth a try though

    The dealership mechanics are experienced and will do a fine job. It's everything else they are involved with that will blow up in your face. Most likely, if the dealership is in a large enough town, they'll have 4WP do it anyway, that's how they work in the Austin area. If they're willing to price match, though, I see no reason to not have them do it if you're able to stick to your guns when they blame you for a bad oil filer or dome light they blame on your lift

    Am I the only one saying damn these prices are a joke... for that price, you could buy the lift, make a friend and do it yourself. Want a 6" lift, get spindles if 2wd, cutting the frame is a bad idea, especially if you are paying that much....

    Dealer won't do it, they will fish out to 4 wheel parts, at least here in Austin.

    Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    You're correct.

    They look terrible and perform worse.

    @OP go private shop.

    But stock tires from a new truck will get a small discount on new tires plus OP could get tires on discount and take advantage of the rebates.... as far as wheels, $10 for spray paint, make em black!

    Yeah if it were me I'd wait until post-warranty then go do it at a private shop. Then again, warranties are usually over-rated anyway so maybe just say to hell with it and get it done for a much more reasonable rate at a private shop. Then if you ever do need to use your warranty, just keep hitting up different dealerships until you find one that's willing to do the work. Each one is different when it comes to how strict they are with aftermarket stuff.

    My honest opinion. You're trying to throw a 6 inch lift on a brand new 3rd gen Tacoma that doesn't even have all the kinks worked out of it yet. 3rd gens are popping up with new issues on a regular basis. Lifting any truck 6 inches is no small order, especially Tacos. There's all kinds of things to take into account. Aftermarket parts won't void a warranty as long as they can't prove the part caused the damage, but with a 6 inch lift if anything breaks under your vehicle (and I mean just about anything remotely connected to your suspension) they'll be able to make enough of a case to not cover it.

    If they can, in anyway shape or form associate a component failure to something that has ANY correlation to an aftermarket mod then yes it could void the warranty for SOME components of the vehicle. So there is a risk you are taking. And currently it is HARD to get Toyota to WARRANTY work to be authorized for my truck which is bone stock....and I am close to lemon law on how many visits I have been in to get my stock leaf springs to stop creaking and squeaking. They admit it is a problem but say there is no fix. So now imagine if you have an aftermarket lift and your Rear Diff goes bad -- now they'll say maybe your lift caused the driveline to be out of spec and ruined your rear diff...now you're out 1500 to 2000$ in parts and labor. Good luck because it will basically be your word against Toyota and they have all of the power in this situation. Sure you can say you will fight it with lawyers, but do you have the time and money to do this????
