after 1000 miles since trans pc was updated, I can say with 100% certainty that my shift lag from P to D or R to D is resolved.

My favorite thing is getting on the highway and using cruise and seeing the truck go in to 6th gear and having the RPM's drop.. that is where I am seeing the largest change.

I dropped off my truck at the dealer for my 10K service today and asked him if he's heard of the update.

He specifically stated, he needed to reproduce all the issues first -- before they will even think of applying the TSB.

I didn't press, since i'm not having any of the original issues, but it seems dealers don't want to do it unless they can see the issue first hand.

With the new tsb has anyone notice a down hill coast improvement. My 2016 TRD Offroad doesn't coast and gain speed when going down hills and you let off on the gas. I have to power it down hill to maintain speed. Every car/truck I have owned in the same situations I would have to brake and slow the vehicle down to keep from speeding at the bottom of the hill. Its not like its dragging the brakes. It reacts like it would if driving a stick. My truck is getting slightly less MPG than others are seeing but I only have 4500 miles on it. My Trans fluid is filled to spec and verified. I will be having the TSB done when my other back ordered parts come in.

After about 300+ miles with the TSB, I am getting about 1 MPG more! love it.

Weird! I seem to read most feedback that it was hurting MPG. Man the results are all over the map

It's a good think if you like less mpg! Bad thing if you don't.

So i just got mine done this afternoon.
So after 4500 miles driving it after getting the trans topped off. It was better after the fluid fill but still never felt good. After a while I started driving in S5 and that was alot better then regular D but still felt hesitant and didnt want to come out of higher gear going up grades unless I really pushed the gas down to downshift to get going. Drove me nuts.
So after I got in the truck and left I instantly noticed a difference. Before when pulling out there was always this hesitation hitting my gas from a dead stop to get going..it wasnt much but I knew it was there and it was everytime from a dead stop. This time after the TSB the truck was much more responsive pulling out and instantly felt ALOT better already. then driving down the road I notice that its shifting through the gears smoother as well. As I got home and climb my final hill up to my street the truck would properly downshift and keep it moving up the hill like I would expect it to. before it would want to stay in a high gear and try a steep hill at like 1200rpm and it would be a crawl unless I almost floored it to force the downshift so it wouldnt take forever to climb the hill. I wont know about my R-D difference till I got to work tomorrow morning. But from the 5mile drive home from the dealer the truck is definitely shifting better

I just told them I wanted it down because I am still having R-D delay and it still doesnt want to shift properly going uphill and already had it in for fluid check and was 2qt low.

I'm new to TW. I've had my Tacoma for about a month now. Took it on a road trip to Virginia Beach during the 4th of July holiday week. Have been experiencing speratic shifting issues. Vehicle felt sluggish at times. Was ready to take it to the dealership and have it checked, when I saw the TSB post. So I printed the PDF and took it to the dealership. They performed the update and also checked the transmission fluid level. The update was quick. The fluid level check took awhile. . fell asleep in the waiting room. It turns out that the fluid level check required the temp to be at a certain range (this is actually discussed in another thread). Anyways, I'm happy to report that the update worked. Smoother shifting. Very responsive. No issues with R to D. Haven't noticed change in mpg. Will monitor over the next month. Definitely worth updating!

Honest opinion, and as you can see from my profile picture, this is in a lifted sport with 285's.

Its a game changer. My trucks symptoms, were chasing gears in cruise (to the point that i stopped using cruise control entirely as i would get worse gas mileage), sudden downshift lurch coming to a stop, slight but noticeable hesitation from 3rd-4th, as well as bogging up slight inclines.

Results are still coming in for me, because i havent used cruise yet at freeway speeds. But I actually recorded video of myself cresting a hill in 4th gear, and now going down a decent grade and still in 4th. I would either have to disengage cruise, or mash the gas to get it to 5th.

As for the lower speed issues. Gone. Noticeably gone. No hesitation, no lurch to a stop, no bogging up the hills around town.
Smoother shifting throughout. Ive mashed the gas, ive driven like a sunday driver, shifts great. It put a smile on my face driving it from the dealership.

I can't attest to the R --> D issue because my truck never experienced that particular issue.

After getting computer checked for tranny fluid, i checked it myself manually (with the temp check and the pinning of the thermostat and all that jazz) and found it to be fine in terms of fluid levels.

I got a chance to do some freeway driving tonight. Mixed heavy commute (SoCal) and normal 80 MPH. Love the way it responded. No dead pedal feeling. If it was like this from the beginning then it would have been a non-issue.

Got mine done today, seems to cure all my previous gripes... Shifts the way I think it should, no lag between R and D, and doesn't jump straight to low gears anymore when getting on the freeway... Should definitely help mileage.

The "1/2 ECT Power Mode" description is dead on... Couldn't be happier!
