Alright, just got back from Toyota. BS. Beginning to agree with Smitty. Call me negative, don't care. Sorry, I was very positive just one short week ago. Yes, the R-D is gone, never really had surge. Haven't got to use cruise because I live in cluster fk Austin. I asked for the sticker print out, didn't get one. Hell, my receipt says TC1601 0.4??? He said they did do the tsb I specifically asked for, and said that code is that? Was there for hours, like 6 with appointment. They had to order the 6 plugs for bs howling. They checked ATF, it was good. Noted on receipt.

My issue is this truck is a b****. I knew it was no Tundra, but damn. The ECU did a good job getting on hwy and up hills, transmission sounds better, but this truck makes me miss my damn Mazda 6, sad because that's no sports car!

Did you go to Charles Maund, Round Rock, Auto Nation , or San Marcos Toyota? Curious as I'm taking mine to Auto Nation this weekend. Already had it in there twice for two of the three issues identified in the TSB

It's all good, I need to drive more to really get better feel. I've only driven a few miles. Like I said, it was better with ecu getting up without gear hunting, smoother. Just hope it lasts

i would say the flash is for real. i had no delay this morning from a cold start. this is the first time this has happened since i have owned this truck and my cruise control is still doing a lot better. i dont think just resetting the ecu would have improved on these 2 things. i am very happy with this flash. remember, this is a 3.5 and not a 4.0 engine. horsepower may be overrated, it must be about torque, even just a little less has made a difference. and too, the extra gear has something to do with gearing down going up an incline we were not custom to.

Took mine in and had the TSB taken care of today. Spent about 45 minutes getting it done....the truck drives soooooo much better. Like night and day. Not perfect, but it made a huge difference.

That is good, I am already scheduled to drop it off tomorrow there at Charles Maund, but if there is any recommendations of taking it elsewhere I can do that. But if they did indeed do perform the update that is good to know. They did seem the know about the low transmission fluid problem and brought that up themselves in the conversation I had over the phone. So I plan on them having them doing both. I don't have too many complaints with my truck though. I think it is fine for the most part, it was just when I took it down I-10 last week and did my first real road trip in my vehicle I noticed the cruise control issue the most. I would go uphill, which would cause it to downshift of course, but then after it leveled off it would often stay stuck in 5th or even 4th until I disengaged the CC for a split second.

I'm not sure why everyone is so upset with Toyota as a Corporation and as a car manufacturer. With the exception of Smitty's situation and a few lemons (out of thousands of trucks), an issue came up with the new tranny, and Toyota addressed it pretty quickly with the T-SB.

It's the dealers that are causing all the distress and frustration with their deceptive practices designed to save them money, not Toyota.

I love my truck. I hope this is the end of the transmission issue, and I cant wait until the warranty and free oil change period is over so I can rid myself of the world of car dealerships.
