Why are you doing the CMC? It looks like you have stock tires on there...

Yup, for RCI. The tubes were removed for the transmission skid plate.

Got my Katzkins in today. Can't wait for this weekend! Also picking up a new trail bike to get back in to riding again. Gonna need to finish fast so I can get a good ride in!

That's the thing. The braces I removed were in the way of the new skids. They were bolted between areas that the new skid doesn't connect to at all, so my concern is that they were providing so sort of reinforcement that the new skids don't compensate for.

Good point, from what I remember on my 2nd Gen when I did the skid, I was wondering the same thing but eventually came up with the notion that the supports merely added a mounting point rather much support. If I remember correctly, the stock mounting hardware was WAY smaller than what the new skid required as well (obviously, haha). However on the 2nd gen I remember only removing something that looked like the second set pictured... Nothing like the first 2.

The hardware for the front brackets is a couple of 18mm bolts, so pretty massive. That's what really got me concerned, since bolts are sized for the anticipated load. I keep telling myself that it was there to protect the engine in the event that the stock skids failed, or to add rigidity in the event of a collision.

Thanks man. I'm not high speed lo draw Oper8r yet..
I purchased the vinyl(http://imagecraft.mysimplestore.com/products/black-50-scale-1717) and shipped it to rrentop. I'm sure he can cut any template.
My other option was Kryptek Typhoon, but already had some muticamblk stuff.

That's all minor stuff, plus dealer incompetence. Not a lemon.

It seems I've been doing a lot for my 3rd gen and the thing isn't even here yet. Parts are stacking up, soon my wife is going to notice and there will be hell to pay!

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Did most of this yesterday, but got the CB installed and did the rear diff mod. Added a inline fuel filter for the diff. I spend a lot of time on dusty roads in the summer and and I had it laying around so went ahead and put it on.

Test it. Plenty of folks out there on the internet tearing into these things and finding cheap parts and poor construction. Make sure it works.
