You'll have an absolute blast on it. Tear it up instead of a street bike.

To be honest only you know what you'll like. If you have a feeling for a certain bike the go for it and tell us all to fuck off!

I did that once and I loved the bike that I bought and it was totaled in an accident. When I'm done with school I'll buy another one for freaking sure; something about it when riding it just spoke to my soul.

Just FYI, I'm not trying to disrespect any of your guys' advice, just trying to explain my situation I guess with the bike. I do appreciate advice from you more knowledgeable guys.

And pardon the sentence structure. It's been a really long day at work; I just got home and am sipping on the moonshine.

I had one for a while. They are turds, but sip fuel and can fit down deer trails, are easy to lift over logs, and are quiet enough to not bother the deer much. Might do 45mph flat out, maybe 50 downhill. The modern version of the Honda 90.

Honestly. If i were you and had the basically 0 dirt experience that you have, i would buy it, play with it the rest of summer and all of fall then sell it over the winter or next spring and buy an actual dualsport.

Obviously you want something bigger. But if you really do like motorcycles, you will have a blast on that 150 without really even leaving your neighborhood.

They aren't that horrible, and in the tight woods are actually kind of nice. Even cruising around on gravel roads they aren't bad, you can ride all day on a tank of gas. My CR500R would use ten gallons to one in the 150. I had mine in some gnarly spots that would make most 450F riders very uncomfortable. I may or may not have snuck it in some hiking trails from time to time. It's like an 80, not much top end but you can still loft the front wheel with some effort.

I use an HJC and haven't died yet. Shoei is what I use on the track, but the HJC flip down visor version gets the job done on the commute.

Revzilla has Shoei Hornets (usually $540) for $189 closeout. Also best sellers on Revzilla are the Bell Mx-9 Adventure (also $189) and AFX FX-41 ($164).

    Hmm

I like my AFX 39 or the 41. They're on the low end of middle range but they work and have protected my noggin in some gnarly crashes.

If they have one that fits your dome, snatch it up! I have a large melon and it's hard to find any brand that fits.

i started out on a 125 that i was way to heavy and tall for. Still had a blast learning the fundamentals.

Honestly, i didn't even try wheelies on it. Unfortunately i figured that one out way to easily on the big bike. I fear my loop is coming. :/

I wouldn't buy it, just to ride it a few months and get bored. But that's just me.
Just buy a cheaper dirt helmet for the woods. And continue using your street helmet otherwise.

Well I do want an actual dual sport bike in the future so I figured it would make sense to get a street legal dual sport helmet anyway?

Almost all motorcycle helmets are DOT approved now anyway, so get what you want, whether that be dirt, street, dual sport, space helmet, scuba steve, whatever

Just found out the owner before the current has a helmet or two he's going to throw in the deal for no extra, we'll see if they fit and/or are POS. I told him I was going to buy it and should be getting it tomorrow. Bill of sale for now, the owner before the current is still on the road for his job so when he gets back I'll get the title and helmets.
