    What's the purpose of the bumper and the bar being such as it is on the front?

    IF it were constructed properly, which this isn't, lets say you're at a big ledge or boulder. You can actually push the "stinger" into an object and let it help lift the front end to get your front tires to contact the object. Also on an extremely steep descent the stinger will hit the ground first pushing the front end up so you don't flip. In most cases, such as this, they serve no purpose other than looking good and giving the driver a reference point of where the front end is. Mine will be coming off and getting replaced with a real bumper from SOS Concepts.

    I haven't posted pictures of it but the frame is missing behind the rear shackels. It's fust got a piece of sheet metal welded in that the rear bumper is then welded to. So I assume that it was bobbed previously. I know the bed is not factory, so I assume thats why. Might as well reBob it though. I'm going to do a flatbedish thing with tool box sides, baja style tire gate (for lack of better description and enough bed space to fit my deployment bag. When I'm done I'll cut the factory bedsides to fit and hange them back on the truck so it looks less flatbed like. YOu'll see. Should be interesting. If I knew how to use solid works I'd make a drawing of it.

    Damn I wish I knew how to use that

    Hobart 140 welder came in yesterday. Pitman arm shipped as well.

    Some of it I'm sure. But moving it back and forth to the shop just to lay a couple welds would be a real PITA. So I figured it best to have a welder in the unit with Basketcase to do the smaller stuff at least. The vast majority can be done with the little Hobart 140 I bought. And I should learn to run it myself at least somewhat, especially when I have an experienced welder to teach, critique and correct my fuckups. Can't make Eddy do all my dirty work forever.

    Could also have been in a wreck. That segment of the frame twists downward when rear-ended. Wreck would also explain non-factory bed.

    And for that matter, if you're going to do a half-assed offroad mod, what better to start with than a wreck you get for cheap?

    I just realised I put this in the Second Gen forum and not the build threads. Why hasn't anyone said anything? I'm supprised the mods didn't move it already.
