Removing badges

I was thinking about removing all decals and badges for a smooth clean look. What do I need and how much of a pain am I getting into?

 

its not hard at all. you need a blow dryer or heat gun to warm them up, then take some dental floss and use that to go behind the badge and it should pull right off. you will have some adhesive left over so just clean it up with some goo gone and you're good to go.

 

x2 except i used 10lb test power pro fishing line instead of the floss.(little stronger)

 

and wear gloves...

 

I use 50lb test PP for frog and jig fishing. ahahahhaha

this is interesting. Maybe I'll try debadging my truck soon. Does it have to be a certain temperature outside to heat up the badges? The high today was 9 degrees, and the low is suppose to be in the negatives.

 

thats where the heatgun comes into play

 

i used a heatgun and a small flathead screwdriver wrapped in tape and they come right off. then use an all purpose cleaner or goo gone to get off any left over residue. then cut compound/ polish or claybar.

ive also used a stripping wheel for side moldings on other vehicles and that saves your fingers

 

Just did mine today, well all the badges on the tailgate and the trd stickers. Kept the "tacoma" on the front doors.

Anyways it looks reeeeally good, imo.
