oil from steering shaft under dash ?

    Noticed some oil on my weather tech mat, looked up and saw this. Truck has 28K miles on it

    i will but they will prob be like " we wiped it off" i have a lot more faith in this forum to tell me wtf it is.

    Your steering wheel is telescopic. Meaning it pulls away and towards you. There's probably going to be a wiper seal on the barrel check for oil around that and on your shaft. ... (ha ha shaft) so my assumption is the little piston on the inside of the barrel, there is going to be seals there odds are they have failed. The hole cylinder has failed. Now my guess is this part will be replace and not rebuilt. Try to imagine a hydraulic cylinder. Maybe Google imagine that for a better understanding.

    Anyways if they do wipe off the oil go take it for a 20 min drive it should come back asap and take the truck back in.

    That looks to be assembly lubricant. It is common to have it get heated and weep a little. There is no oil seals or tank in the steering column to leak.

    Clean it up and move on. Nothing to worry about.

    Or you could waste your time going to the dealer and they will clean it up and send you on your way.

    Mine did the same thing about 2 months ago. Cleaned it up and haven't seen anymore oil
