The nice thing is I would have the tools but not the skill probably... But definitely something I could learn and read up on and have my buddy help me. His grandpa used to be a mechanic and I'm sure he'd help us if we ran into a snag.

    My '01 is B07A. 07 isn't in the 94-04 range. What's the deal there?

    EDIT:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-gear-ratio-chart.365138/

Says it is 4:30... so if I was looking at 33's with my 3rz manual, I'd want to regear as well...

    EDIT 2:

03 05 aren't the same on both charts, 06 matches one... So I guess this means I can make up w/e gear ratio I want. Cool. Mine is 6:95

put a different front bumper on the tacoma, like the look of the winch being hidden rather than looking ghetto fabbed and hacked up

lots of setting preloads, backlash, and reading wear patterns. It can be assembled and seem to work fine only to prematurely wear out. And these particular diffs are a pain in the ass. attempt it at your own risk.

Where is your weight distributing hitch? This is a requirement.

In the manual it says not to use one as it can cause frame damage.. so I didn't get one for that reason as I don't want to cause damage...I'm sure you can use one but I didn't want to chance it ...

Then you have to spring for air bags, then.

I just can't imagine towing a trailer without a WDH. Does it say not use one in our trucks manual or is it for the camper?

Regardless, installing a WDH or air bags, pretty close to same money. The hitch will be the fastest. The air bags won't interfere with the regular suspension once you deflate them.

With the retros only the drivers side headlight plug is used. I simply plugged into the unused passenger side connector. Took about 30 seconds. Its fused for 10 amps.

I've never though of a WDH on a first gen because they aren't really capable of towing much anyway at least safely. What do you tow that you use one with? I guess maybe with a really dense load like a bobcat or something it may be a good addition. Either way WDH is still nice to have I guess.
