Ever Seen Rust in the bed?

Its metal filings. I got those exact stains in all my trucks. The filings come from the metal cutting band saw and stick to the metal and fall off while I transport the metal home.

It happens whether its rubber, plastic or painted metal. Those particles stick good! Then they rust!

Its the exact same thing as a BOAT HULL.

My bed bolts are rusted to hell, like everything else on my truck.

 

It's not the exact same thing. It's sheet molded composite which is similar to traditional FRP. Correct repair methods are slightly different. Both use fiberglass fibers and a resin but the resin composition in SMC is different and release agents are dispersed throughout the SMC part.

I agree. Mine is all scuffed up and dirty. I'll usually hose it out if there is dusty crap in the bed that will blow into the back window on the highway, but aside from that, its "cleaned" with a shovel.

 

Wasn't going to say anything, but yeah. Maybe @Iamraiderpower can go get his hair did after cleaning up his bed. My wife can recommend some nice nail salons in the area too if need be.

 

That stuff is kept in the cooler, and I have bottles not cans

 

I didnt say I wash the bed of my truck, I was just cleaning that area figuring out what the F it was. My entire truck only gets washed when it rains

 

Fiberglass doesn't rust.

 

I have heard that the plastic bed liners allow dust and dirt to settle underneath the bed liner and vibrate and eventually rub the paint off the truck bed causing rust and even holes in extreme cases. This small hole in the bed liner may be allowing some bed rust to come to the surface. Worth looking under your plastic liner.
