I'm going to change the transmission fluid and the differential fluid. Toyota parts dept. won't tell me what to use. Anyone know what manual tranny fluid and gear oil to use?

I'm happy with Severe Gear 75W-90 in the transmission, transfer case, and both differentials.

I use Redline MT90 in the transmission and standard Redline GL-5 in the transfer case and diffs. Weight is 75W90 in all places.

Just enter your vehicle information, and it will tell you what's required:

    https://www.redlineoil.com/find-products-for-my-vehicle

My 2008 Tacoma requires MT-90 75W90 GL-4 in the transmission, and 75W90 GL-5 in the diff. The Diff requires GL-5 because Toyota installed a "clutch type" LSD in the 2005-2008 Tacomas.

GL5 is for hypoid gears. I like Redline's 75-110w for the rear diff. Not as fussy about the front. Any good 75-90 GL5. I have not tried the Ford fluid in the tranny. It may be great. I do know the Redline MT90 works great. I've been running that for years.
