Did the Transmission update this morning. The Dealership said they normally don't do re-flashes and it was running normally but they did it any way. Despite me telling them it wasn't and my VIN was in the list on for the TSB.

And what do you know it runs and shifts better in cruise control. Fucking assholes, apparently only the techs know what they are talking about. Been wrenching my own trucks/cars for 28 years.

Took mine in today to Toyota of Surprise. I had the printed TSB in my hand. I think I was the first 2016 in specifically for the update, when I picked it up about 2 hours later they had another 2016 come in for the TSB update. I've hated my transmission since I brought it home, hoping it works as it should now.

I emailed on Monday saying I need the TSB done. I asked for a Friday appointment and they are going to try to work me in tomorrow.

Interesting. I have never had any trouble getting them to do stuff. Overall I've had very good experience with them. We have three Toyotas (the other two are out of warranty) so I am in there almost once a month just for regular maintenance.

I bought my 1st gen there in 2000 and have been going pretty regularly since 2009. They've been wrong a few times and I've been wrong a few times (for example, I lit them up because my wife's Prius broke down a week after they replaced the traction battery - same exact symptoms. Well, it turns out she ran it out of gas. Oops.)

They checked my trans level and greased the u-joints without any significant push-back. I expect that they will do the TSB for me without argument, but we'll see.

    Thanks!

I do a lot of technical writing as a byproduct of doing my job. It's nice to let loose once in a while. If you want to read someone who has actual skill and writes funny stuff about cars, check out Doug Demuro (if you haven't already).

As well here...bought gen 1, gen 2, and gen 3 and 3 Prius and several other Yotas for my kids. They didn't give me any hassle over TSB install either. And my bet, TSB will go smoothly for you...

the TSB went really well for me today...I've already posted positive reviews on a couple of threads here on TW today. I'd just like to think my opinion is credible and not fantasy.

Not at all, I appreciate the input and good mojo regarding TSB. just saw this in my email inbox and found it interesting no disrespect...

I still struggle with my 3rd gen purchase at times and considered many other trucks before I bought my 3rd taco. But I'm really starting to enjoy my 3rd gen

Think the biggest thing is time. When they update the ECU it's probably about the same as resetting it. It clears the software and resets the learning mode. In the past when many folks have had their ECU cleared and learning mode reset it ends up positively affecting performance in a big way. However the benefits are short-lived maybe a month or 1000 miles....so we will see with time for this TSB how it all settles in

I've turned in my truck yesterday morning for Trans update and howling noise issue coming from the front. I hope they reset my ECU.
I really hope the shifting to higher gears is smoother after the update.
I believe clearing out the ECU would be necessary since the previous learned shifting data would be useless and perhaps negatively affect the transmission update.

That's where I bought my truck, is the hill incline east or west of the dealer?
