I have run Mobil 1 in every vehicle I have ever owned. I switched the truck over right after I bought it to Mobil1 5W-30. Also put mobil1 in the transmission and transfer case and will be swapping the diff'f fluid out soon once I have a free weekend.

The last few times I have changed the oil, Advance Auto Parts has been running a deal on 5 quarts of Mobil 1 with a Mobil 1 filter for $29. Not a bad deal. I have to buy an extra quart every other oil change though since the truck takes 5.5 quarts.

My last car was a Honda accord I bought w/ 111k miles switched it to Mobil1 as soon as I got it. I turbo'ed the car at about 130k miles ran 10psi daily driven on a completely stock motor Changed the oil with Mobil 1 10w-30 every 3,000 miles. I put about 50k miles on it turbo'ed. Went back to N/A at 180k miles, then sold the car a few months ago with 210k miles and it still ran great, didn't leak a drop of oil and only burned about a quart of oil between oil changes. I am a believer in Mobil 1.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
That sounds like a great deal, so I called my local Advance shop and at this time they only have a special currently on Castrol but they said they go back and forth from Mobil to Castrol......That would be a very good deal for Mobil 1 with a Mobil filter.

You should be fine. Did you put a half a quart too much in there? I was teaching my buddy how to change his oil last weekend on his taco and he put in 6 quarts instead of 5.5. He was freakin out lol I told him it would be fine.

yeh, i over think things sometimes. reading a dipstick is on my hard to do list. i understand how it is suppose to work, but it is not that definitive to me.

the problem is i put the over-sized oil filter...which is cool except the only way for me to receive a reading is using the ol'dipstick instead of puting 5.5 quarts......oh well...not going to worry about it...thanks for the input.

There are several threads on this forum that talk about how crappy the dipstick is to read, but for future reference, it is actually better to be a little low on oil, than to overfill it. An overfilled crankcase can cause aeration around the crankshaft bearings causing premature wear. Having said that, 1/2 quart shoudn't harm anything, but next time I would stick with 5.5. JMO.

I have rotella t6 in my 02 v6 4runner...it's in my 90 miata... It'll be in my 99 Tacoma v6 when it's due for a change....it'll be in my mowers and anything else 4 cycle that needs oil.

It's a fleet oil designed for multiple applications....I've done lots of research and i'm convinced there's nothing better for the price.

I'm running RP in the truck now and plan to move the DD over to it from Mobil 1 at next oil change.

It's like $1 more per quart. Not a significant price difference. And I don't have to worry about whether or not hydrocracking matters (most likely not, but again, I'd prefer not to think about it altogether).

I have Mobil 1 in the engine, Valvoline convention oil in the rear diff (LSD), and I'm about to put Red Line in the transfer, manual transmission, and down the road I'll probably put it in the front diff as well.

What about synthetic oil in the differentials and transfer case? It has been so cold here this winter, I'm thinking of changing everything with the exception of the transmission over to synthetic. Does anyone have an oil they recommend?

Red Line seems to be well liked around here. I haven't done it yet, but my shipment of it arrived today. I'll be doing the transfer case and manual transmission within the next week hopefully. Just need to pick up a fluid transfer pump. Speaking of that, anyone have any recommendations there?
