The guy who originally laid out the Dirt Devil trail system sells maps for $20. A camping permit @ LBL is something like $30 or so....(I'll get exact price ASAP) Trails are free @ LBL. The "local" I referred to is VERY familiar with LBL trails too. There's a Tennessee group that's very active @ LBL. Probably easy to get a few of them to lead the way @ LBL. My screwed up work schedule only allows me 1 or 2 multi-day trips a year. Black Mountain being one, and I might try to turn the Tennessee trip into #2.

That's one of my favorite spots in that area. Beautiful country.

 

We would be driving down starting in the wee hours of a Saturday morning, about 5 hour drive, do the trail on Saturday, then drive home Saturday night or Sunday morning. Doubtful the group I have tagging along would camp either. I have family in Murray Kentucky if we need a place to crash for the evening! LBL is just an option at this point. The group I have with me isn't quite equipped for those trails.

1 redneck in a jacked up Jeep XJ, 3 completely stock Tacoma's, a stock 4Runner, a doctor in a fairly new Range Rover, and whoever else joins up between now and then.

 

This group, if they were skiers, would be looking for the "bunny slopes"..... They think my truck, with 3" lift and 265's is a "highly modded off road machine".... It's all about perspective....

 

I signed divorce papers 2 days before my 28th birthday. I'd skip that chance if it were presented to me.....

 

While I'm visiting South Carolina interwebs this morning, anyone live near Sumpter? Back in my 2-wheelin' days, we used to ride a SETRA enduro there every winter.

I can parallel park my Tacoma like a Champ. Asked how much parking was one block away from Times Square and
the terrorist said $60 bucks because the parking lot was full. Bitch please!! It was Sunday night and his lot was empty.
I rolled out into the street and parallel parked for free. The lot attendant flipped me the bird.
