    never really paid attention to it that specifically, but I'd imagine 4th or 5th. I seldom shift into 6th until I'm up at about 60 on the highway.

    I guess that's one perk of my loud exhaust. Myself and everyone around me will know if I'm in too low of a gear :rofl:

    Exactly. The higher the gear, the more gas you need to apply to get moving. When I had my 2012 GTI I would drive around town in 4th gear, it was a manual, not a DSG. My wife would drive around town in 3rd, when I let her drive it, and she would consistently get better gas mileage then me because she needed to give it less gas to get moving. Makes sense to me.....
