    Sup everyone? Happy Friday. Hot as balls. Question....

    My 98' Lexus GS300 needs new rotors and pads. Anyone have any recommendations? Or is non-tacoma talk frowned upon? I'm obviously going to check out the Lexus club forum but I figured I'd ask here too.

    To answer your question;
    There's something to be said for factory stuff. In my experience not much lasts longer or works better.
    However, I've also had good luck with Monroe ceramic pads in the past. Usually pretty quiet and they last well.

    167.08 for the most common line of brakes shops use around me. they are "silent stop" pads and wagner made rotors. thats f and r on generic shop discount at my work. idk what part of MA you are in, but if hampton nh isnt too far, ill take care of you. brakes have huge markup and honestly get far more defects on premium lines like akebono, wagner pads(dont always come with hardware) and *cringe* centric premium parts

    I just called the dealer. $678.00 for front and rear rotors and pads.

    322.78 for just the front.

    Looks like I'm going aftermarket.

    oem vs aftermarket is always a debate but understand a few things: car companies outsource many parts anyways and brakes are a common wear and tear item. if we were talking about the carbon ceramic rotors on a 911 gt3, id recommend the dealer. other than that, its just a big round flat hunk of steel. how different can they really be? some stuff id only buy oem though like catalytic converters on vws and subies

    My wifes t4r needs front brakes pretty bad. Almost 70k on the original parts is pretty damn hood. Especially since she drives like NASCAR. Did the rears with OEM last summer at about 55K miles. Needless to say the front willbe getting OEM stuff too. Its more, but can't beat that kind of service life.

    I know it's humid, but you might have a material issue. That's a really long cure time, I'd wonder if it didn't bond well.
    This is a B.S. thread, nothing is off limits. Non-Tacoma talk is welcome, just usually opens the door for some harrassment so as long as you can take it, no worries :D
    Yikes... Honestly, I've been happy with Duralast rotors and pads. I usually get the middle of the road pad they offer. I will never buy a long life pad because that just means to me that they'll chew the shit out of my rotors. Their mid grade pads have been quiet and lower dust than stock on both my F150 and the Tacoma and I just buy the Duralast blank rotors.
