I didn't know that, but that's true only time will tell,I'm sure they're are people on here with the TSB that will be putting on a lot more miles so hopefully they can update us soon, so you think since the system reset it has to learn your driving habits for XXX amount of miles before it locks into your driving habits again?

When I first got my truck It was very slow and unresponsive and after the first 900 miles on the odometer (once it got used to my driving habits) it started to shift and drive a lot better.

So if it is that the ECU has been reset I'm only optimistic that it's gonna drive even better going into the future if it drives a lot better now with the reflash I'm excited to see how much better it should drive after a couple weeks.

Yes it does because that's why many were going to the dealer and having them reflash the ECU it clears the learning mode and restarts it. The truck drives better for the first 1200 miles or a month is what many report. I too noticed a big improvement when I had mine flashed initially. The learning mode drives better. Then it's like it picks up had habits.

You don't need a sticker to know if your truck drives better!

I asked for a "sticker too" Dealer claims they must order stickers and they never plan to "order" stickers...

Bet they say they have a new one with TSB applied
Did they replace the hood or fix it ? Is that the fix method they adopted for this for all ?

I'm not sure if it is for all but mine has been replaced. I'm picking the truck up this afternoon.

These stickers aren't specific to this TSB. They are used on all Toyota vehicles for this type of "repair". Either your dealer the recommendation of Toyota or they don't.

They didn't put a sticker on mine either, but I don't see that as a big deal. It's on my paperwork and a check of my 'Toyota Owners' site on my vehicle and work done shows it there. When they work on your truck it's all off the vehicle records so no worrying.

Haha More lies! I got a sticker from them on Tuesday. Then suddenly on Thursday they are special stickers that need to be ordered.

not sure if stickers are needed because everything that has been done to my truck is on their master computer and documented by the VIN number.

You do if they only write "flash ECU" in the master computer documentation.

I'm not really buying this. When my truck was in "learning mode" it sucked ass. It really started to improve about 1500-2000 miles. So, if it's running well in "learning mode" I'd be pretty pleased.

You're pretty much the only person I've seen with that experience. Vast majority report the opposite. Many were getting their ECU flashed just to reset the learning mode. Also believe there were a couple of threads on the topic of how to reset the ECU because it had been so effective improving the driving experience. I'd say your observation is an outlier

I don't know.. I recall many people saying the truck started performing much better after the "break-in" period (which would be concurrent with "learning mode"). It's all anecdotal, but I'm certainly not the only who claimed a significant improvement in performance after breaking the truck in...

Seems like the ECU-reflash thing was just grasping at straws trying anything possible to improve the performance of the truck's transmission in lieu of an actual "fix".

Old adage is the truck will drive better after break in so that could be the mental factor there too. My truck did shift better after resetting the ECU. After a month it started driving like shit again

Ok ,Just got a call from my Dealer Haddads Lenox Mass. and they want me to bring my Tacoma DC OFFROAD in next Thursday and will check Trans Oil and do the upgrade. I told them that my truck has 7500 miles on it and a couple 400 mile road trips and have none of the Issues. They said because my vin was on the TSB that it should be checked andaware of the Tsb and just want their customers to be happy !! Ok by me !! When I think abut it they did the same thing when I had my 2011 and TSB on the leaf spring upgrade . They Are and Outstanding Dealership

I am Thinking if it Ain't Broke leave it be !!
