    • I'm in the market to get some bigger tires when these wear out, but afraid of bogging the thing down. I know I'll start with the 265s and mate them with some light weight wheels. I want to endeavor to get the update to the transmission programming. Just don't want to wrestle the dealership for it. They are darned stubborn !!

Got mine flashed today. My biggest gripe was the lag from P to D. I can say it's gone now!! Haven't taken it on the highway yet to check shifting, etc. but so far happy.

I had the TSB done this morning. There is definitely a difference, but it is much better than I expected. I suspect the transmission may be back in learning mode.

    Done today no questions asked.

    Initial impressions:

Cruise seems to work better. The truck now utilizes 5th gear and resumes overdrive after cresting a hill appropriately.

Can't say about R2D or surging as that only happens when cold and its hotter than balls here 24/7

Not noticing any other huge change, but I thought it drove OK before.

My Taco doesn't have the CC upshift or the 1st --> 2nd shift problems. I had the R --> D delay happen a few times but since I've been applying the brake the tranny has a 1-2 second delay at the most. The last few fillups have averaged around 24 mpg. I just had the 10,000 mi service done even though the truck just turned over 5,000 mi(mainly for the oil and filter change). The dealer (Lia Toyota) was OK with switching the service. So given how well my tranny is running and the good gas mileage, I figured "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I could do the TSB during a later service visit. It appears most folks are seeing improvements with the new flash, some getting higher mpgs. That's good to hear..

Just got back from Bellingham Washington and I'm from Vancouver Canada and they did the tsb for me and wow it works !! 1mpg better on the freeway driving 8 mph faster truck holds 6 great and it was never able to before ever it always felt like I was towing something now it's substantially better this truck still needs more torque but this update went a long way I'll tell ya no more flares and smoother shifts and hold gears little bit longer and no reverse to drive delay and I'll tell you what this is defiantly different than a reset of adaptive learning as I did that once before slowly restoring my faith in the brand now if they could figure out my trip meter resets and squeaky groaning leaf springs I'd be a happy camper

Do the fuel tables get wiped in reflash?
Seems they would, but I haven't confirmed this.

I really want to believe this will work and it has been acceptable so far, but I can't get an affirmative on the table reset.

I wish there were engineering notes on the fix. We could dispense with the guess work, gossip and subjective reasoning.

    Ugh.

Personally, I think they addressed more than the 3 things in the TSB related to the transmission shifting. For example, better shift points under normal acceleration. Mine doesn't shift from 1->2 as quickly as before (like, at 3 MPH).

At Bell road Toyota it was about an hour with them searching for it, getting it done and washing my truck. Get them to schedule you with Jonathan and bring the letter from OP. Jonathan knows what's up as he just did mine today.
