Thanks for the post!! I have an 05 Prerunner TRD 4 door that I bought about 7 months ago with 31k miles, with 46k now. This week, the old temp/comp. starting going in and out. Started poking around here for ideas, etc. Found this and am very happy.

I have a client that runs a TV repair shop. I'll pull the unit and he'll do the fix'n. Will give a shout if it works, but I'm sure it will.

Hope Santa leaves a little coal in Toyota's stocking. I've read all the posts in this tread and this really should be addressed.

    Merry Christmas.

Thanks, I had just written off the over head console because I wasn't about to pay a couple of hundred bucks for a temp gage and compass. but 10 cents in solder no problem. You guys rule!!!

Just fixed mine today as well. After calling the dealer and them telling me the part was $997 dollars, I started searching this thread and found what I needed, thank you so much! I have been a lurker for some time but registered today. It saved me a bundle!

Worked like a charm. Lost one of the metal clips and had to root around with a magnet but found it.

Question: there were several small drops of water on the inside of the exposed roof panel ~ anyone else find that? No rust or anything, but wondering if that kind of condensation is normal. It was below freezing...

Thanks for the great write-up and for saving me $$!

Have you ever replaced your windshield? Sounds like an improper seal up there to me...

I bought it used, but it had a new windshield. No other signs of leakage...if it was leaking significantly would it spot the headliner, drip down to the floor etc.? How should I check for more leakage?

I'm guessing you've got a pinhole that isn't big enough for a ton of water to get through, but enough for it to condense & frost. I had a bad seal after getting mine replaced & had water dripping from the console itself before they finally fixed it. Doesn't sound like thats the case with yours...

I'll pull the console again & make sure theres no staining to the top of the headliner (use a mirror)...

Thanks SS ~ I'll yank it again this weekend and see if I can find anything.

First you said "$150", then you upped it to $160. Why so much??????????? Is it used? How much did you get it for?

Does the 47 ohm 1/2W 5% Carbon Film Resistor pk/5 from Radio Shack work? Does the location of the bands around a resistor also have something to do with the direction of current flow?
