Hey Eric, I'm thinking of going SUA. Is it possible to fit a 14" shock without cutting the bed? Or if the bed must be cut somewhat, can a tower be made sufficiently stiff to not require a bed cage for stiffness?

I'm super interested in the relocate. I know it'll be a super high quality part just like a shackle flip! Can't wait to hear more!

14" travel shocks are possible without cutting the bed, and without having the lower axle mounts scraping the ground, and I believe I have it worked out for enough stiffness. A shock tower bar crossed my mind though.
I also will have an affordable SUA conversion kit available very soon. The shock relocation could be several weeks out though

The 14" travel shocks I'm referring to are full length 2.5" body Kings or Fox shocks like 983-02-098 with compressed lengths about 23.4" and extended length about 37.4"

Go look at the 2013 build on Total Chaos website. It has their MT SUA with 14s under the bed. Although I believe they did run a cross brace between the two hoops on that build. That part was above the wheel wells and a space saver.

So this flip kit will work with the AP Expo pack? I'm looking at these as well

Another question--I currently have the original ATO shackle flips (only work with stock springs) would I need to add any extra holes for these or can I use the existing ones on the frame?

I believe all shackle flips use the OEM holes. Some have 3 holes on the upper and shackle hanger for setting the shackle angles and differences in leaf packs.

I run these with the all pro expo's and they work great. After an adjustments this weekend, i'm now sitting at 45* at ride height. I'm running them in the forward most position which requires drilling 1 new whole in the frame, took about 3 seconds to drill it, other bolts use factory locations.

Thanks Jared @utroda for answering Erik's questions. I agree and think the Allpro expos are a good option, their length is ideal. But there are several good options available.

Once I get these new shocks installed (12" king smoothies) I have a feeling this week be my next purchase, just to get that last little bit of clearance :)

Be a good idea to set it all up at the same time. 12s, relocate and flip. That way you know where to set the 12s for bump and droop.

That way you dont end up like Ace and needing to redo it all

Thanks Jon. The TC kit was the one I was looking at the hardest. Most guys say the DMZ kit is best but those guys also recommend 16" shocks and a bed cage. I don't think I need the DMZ kit, I'm only running a mild mid travel up front and don't plan to go long travel. I also like that the TC kit uses the stock mounting locations for the springs. Makes a simple install.

Any details on this? Will you be using the stock locations like the TC kit? Will springs be included? Sounds cool Eric, good parts are worth the wait!

I'm really digging this design from the 2014 Total Chaos Tacoma build. 14" shocks without cutting the bed with the DMZ SUA kit. I like the plates bolting to the fender wells. That would add much stiffness.

It will use the stock mounting locations, Deaver HD U539/U540 packs recommended, I now am a Deaver distributor

Conversion kit is probably only a week or two away. It will include 1/2" thick upper U-bolt plates with air bump landing area, strong 9/16" U-bolts, SUA specific spring perches and 304 stainless lower U-bolt location plates featuring better ground clearance than DMZ lower plates.
Pricing will be about $280, plus cost of springs.

This is a great design, I figure its going to be $$$ if they produce them, rightly so.
I plan to have my relocation be sub $300

Cool! Sounds good. Eagerly awaiting. Will you be reusing the oem inverted shackles?
