Will keep the tent up for a couple days to air out.


The big thing is a screened-in canopy. I'm not sure I want to bring it yet.

NE extension to Allentown then 78 to Cabellas, up 61 through Pottsville.

 

Nice. I'll be going 78 to 61 also. Maybe I will see you. I'm going Saturday morning as well.

 

That's the way you always go Craig? I usually shoot up 81 or the bethel exit on 501. I think I only took the Pottsville exit to go to centralia or the brewery.

 

Yes. I know 81 is a more highway option but I like the ride up through all the little coal towns.

 

Per RC website instructions, I emailed RC to give a courtesy head's up of my intent to camp. Here's some good information that Lynn @RC replied:

"The camping at the park is primitive and included with your wheeling fees.
It is located adjacent to our day parking lot. There are porta-potties,
picnic tables, and firerings. We do not reserve a specific site for you,
the camping is first-come first-served, however, if we were to have a
crazy weekend and run out of room, we have a couple additional areas to
use in that case. We do ask that people contact us prior to camping so I
can make sure you get the info you need to know re: camping in general and
special events that might affect camping.

The driveway is open all night so you can arrive whenever. In the morning
you will come up to the office to get checked-in and take care of any
membership requirements.

When you come through the driveway, you will see that camping is to the
right. I've attached a picture showing the layout of the camping. Area
A is for single vehicles and truck/trailers. Area B is for single
vehicles and truck/trailers, however, the end of Area B narrows down a bit
and should be used by single vehicles. Area C is for truck/trailers and
RVs. Area C has been pushed back further into the grass. Our staff is
trying to keep that area cleared of rocks and be able to mow it regularly.
We need members to not bring rocks for whatever reason into the grassy
area. Park head first rather than parallel parking.

The camping rules are posted throughout the camping area, however, we
continue to experience a lack of cooperation from some of our patrons so I
will repeat some of the rules here: Do NOT move the firerings or picnic
tables around. Do NOT leave your campfire unattended and put it out
completely anytime you leave your campsite (we have had bears come into
camp and disrupt things, so please put your fire out completely and do not
leave food out). Do NOT use your firering as a trashcan for bottles,
glass, cans, and other unburnable items.

Take note of what site you are in (there are tags on the picnic table or
on a tree). When you check-in to go wheeling you will need to give that
info to our staff.

If we find later that your site was left behind with trash, vandalism, or
glass, etc. left in the firering everyone registered with that campsite
will lose future camping privileges. If you are part of a group that is
not following the rules and you do not want to be associated with their
bad behavior, then report it to the office.

Also, we have been asked by the local township supervisors to ask our
members to please observe the 35 mph speed limit on Molleystown Road.

 

BLUE - Best camp spots, usually taken right away. (early birds) (shaded by trees) (no RTT, ground tent only)

RED - 2nd best camp spots, big enough for a good group size, flat area. (some shade but not a lot, very open) (RTT & ground tents)

ORANGE - RTT only, uneven ground, rocky, straw grass. (no shade period.)

 

@HolyHandGrenade and @Manual man74 - we all set for meeting up at Applebees in Suffern? Meet 7 PM, roll out at 7:45 PM? Do we have a route planned?

Also, Let's coordinate at least one dinner. How about a basic cave man meal of steaks and potatoes on Saturday or Sunday? Steaks are on me and I'll bring the camp grill.

 

I'm planning on heading up on Friday night around 5-6 pm if anyone in the Albany, NY area needs a ride. I have 2 seats available.

 

I don't think I've ever camped anywhere but B because of how large our group usually is. It tends to be where the main hangout is.

 

Are there going to be early birds from Toyota Takeover/NTC/TW that will "reserve" good spots?

 

@ToyRyd04 and I are leaving around 6pm on Friday from Frederick area.. We can try. But he is RTT and I am ground

 

Yep, I can try to keep an area. Ill be shooting for Camp Area B (RED). Typically there is plenty of room there.

 

I'm gonna b there Thursday gonna try to shoot for the corner. Ima sleep in my bed though. But my cousin is bringing a tent.

 

I'll be up there around 9 probably.

 

Sweet. Hopefully I don't have work then I'll be there in the afternoon But if I have work I probably won't be there till 8 or 9

 

Yeah I was going to go up right after work but it's just not worth going up that early and chilling in the parking lot alone haha. This makes it easier for me to pack/chill my food too.
