I can't believe how quiet these tires (255/85/16) are compared to the Duratracs (265/75/16) I had on before. mind blowing.

They are just as quiet as my stock goodyear 4-ply street tires.

Anyone have 255/85/r16 on a 2-3" lift. Preferably an icon set up because that is what I will be going with most likely.

Just trying to see what the tallest tire I can go with without rubbing. Obviously the narrow route is the way to go vs the 285's to accomplish that. Once I get the answer, and hopefully some photos, I'm purchasing 5. Thanks for the help.

Also they are goin on a 16" Ray10 by Stealth Custom Series and a 2010 DCSB.

Edit: Oh and I would like to not rub when compressed at all. I know some people stuff a bigger tire knowing they are going to flex/compress/ or get out much. But I'd like to know I can without rubbing at all.

No rubbing as in you don't want to even trim any plastic?

I have OME lift, here's my truck with ~3", on the same tires and rims. Now that I've had it out and flex'ed a bit I do have some rubbing on the back of the inner fender when the tire is fully stuffed, I'll have to hit it with a heat gun at some point.

I suppose that is all fine. Just trying to stay away from cab mount chops and anything too extreme I guess. Some of that crappy plastic and mud flaps can go.

What will you do to fix that? (Sorry for a potential dumb/obvious question) is it just the inner plastic stuf or actual fender?

    Looks really good though!

I'm not rubbing all the way back to the cab mount, just hitting the leading edge of the inside plastic fender a bit - enough to make a bunch of noise but nothing damaging. In fact, it actually seems to help keep mud and crap from building up in there, but it's a bit disconcerting to hear when going over stuff that I want to make it stop. My initial plan is to pick up an inexpensive heat gun from harbor freight (aka "snap off tools") or Fry's and just heat it up and roll it back a bit. If not, I'll take the dremel to it and lop off the offending bit.

FWIW, I love these tires. Quieter than I anticipated on-road, and now that I've got a bit of time with them off-road I'm really impressed. They air down nicely, and I've already had a few encounters with rocks and branches that have damaged my new rims, but seem to bounce off the sidewalls of these tires.

So that must be when you are compressed and turned a good amount. I just wasn't sure if you were hitting your actual fender inside or just that cheap almost pointless plastic in there. (Away from the truck to look at it right now)

Glad to hear your great feedback. I am definitely set on them and can't wait!

With the Icon set up and Pelfreybilt armor, I might end up sitting at only ~2". Think that will change anything?

You are correct, it's when compressed and turning the wheel, although it takes surprisingly little compression and turning to make contact. It is just the plastic I'm hitting, normally covered by the mud flap. In my case I pulled those off while I was still on stock wheels/tires for the same reasons everyone does. I also pulled that silly little plastic lib that hangs down in front, as that was not going to work with the larger tires.

I can't speak to your Icons, but absolutely the more weight you add the lower it'll sit. I was originally going with OME 887 coils with the expectation of putting a bumper on at the same time, however the bumper ended up on the do-it later list so I opted for 885's, which I think was the right call for me now. Once I get it loaded with skids, bumper and winch I'll re-evaluate coils.

Ive had two shops attempt to balance my wheels now and neither can. 285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxx with 16x8 Method NVs. I recently drove the Dalton Highway up here in Alaska and it's a really rough road. They used to be balanced fine and they drove perfectly. But now they wobble on the highway. Apparently I lost some wheel weights. But like I've said two shops now can't get my wheels balanced right. I had the toyota dealer do it and they couldn't, they got it pretty good besides the fact they had the wheel weight on the front left rubbing the caliper. Then they fixed that and they continued to wobble. Then I had another reputable shop try and they couldn't either. There's nothing wrong with my wheels from the looks of it. They drove perfect until a week ago.

Thanks for all the feedback man. Much appreciated. How do you like that suspension set up? I am on the fence when it comes to deciding how much to put into my suspension to match my driving style and hobby list. I can take it to a pm but id love to pick your brain.

I just ordered 255/85/r16's from Tread Depot for 201$ (191$ after coupon) a piece. They have a 40$ off coupon for a set of four right now. I ordered 5 for just over 1100$ shipped. I'll show them off once I get them on.

Brushed Copper RAY10's from SCS will be with em on a white DCSB.

Yea I guess so! Saw a post on Instagram about them and I hit Vin up about a set and apparently someone fell through on the last set and I jumped on them. I still haven't even seen them in person because I've been gone for work a while. :anonymous:
