I been driving it for almost a week now. Even though it's 100% better, I have have noticed at times in stop in go traffic or early morning first run, a couple of times when the trans couldn't figure out what gear it should be in. One time it was like a slip (I think) 2nd to 3rd when accelerating. Another time while slowing down in traffic, a hard bang when I accelerated again. All this to say, they need to fine tune the fix because it's not quite right.

You're not the only one. I was going to post about this problem since the TSB as well. I'm hoping it goes away, but it's done it a few times now. A very noticeable hard "clunk" on downshift when braking to a light. It was loud enough to make my passenger look at me when it did it yesterday.

My truck did this more when it was new. I have not noticed as much lately. Have not picked up yet from dealer but TSB was applied last week. Will report back when I get the truck. Wonder if maybe this is a break in/learning issue that will possibly resolve itself over time

Which dealership did you use? I'm in San Diego and am interested in which dealerships are willing to do the TSB.

1,100 miles since trans tsb was installed. Summary of results:
    - cold delay improved significantly, but not eliminated
    - shifting is marginally better
    - down shifting with cruise on while driving up hills is a not as jerky
    - I do not sense the "wow this feels faster" sensation that others mention
    - In summary, a bit better.

If I totaled my 2016 Tacoma today, I would not replace the truck with another Tacoma. Thank goodness that my "made in Japan" 2016 Land Cruiser continues to have zero issues since I purchased it 8 months ago, but it does like fuel.

My second update after driving to my Granny's in Hayward.... Much Much better. Holds the lower gear longer when going up the hills without mashing the gas petal or manually shifting it. Responds quicker and smoother. I still use 4th gear when driving in town or stuck in traffic like I was on the way home. My gas mileage seems to be improving, I couldn't get out of the 16's and now I'm 17-19, I'm not exactly light on the gas petal either;)
I still feel like it uses the higher gear more than I would like but I am comparing it to my 08 which, in my opinion, was a better performing truck.
Overall, the update was a big improvement and I'm very happy with my truck:thumbsup:

I'm in San Diego and I took my truck in for the 5K service and mentioned problems with the trans and they said they would do the TSB and they did it with no hassle at Toyota El Cajon.

I totaled one 2016 tacoma, got another, couple days later they tried to increase the price.... after i took it home.... took it back and went to another dealership and got a "3rd" 3rd gen.

If this one got totaled... Id go get another.

    LOVE my truck!!

I didnt have any real issues before the TSB... Does seem to drive a little better/smoother after the reflash, but i wasnt complaining about the way it drove before.

Leaf springs squeak sometimes... That is my ONLY complaint and that comes and goes.

There are jeeps, dodge, chevy and ford trucks in my family. I have drove them and ride in them often, i test drove all the other 2016 mid size trucks and as far as looks, comfort, and driving the tacoma was hands down the winner. I have NO brand loyalty. I picked what i liked best. 3 times.

Okay I picked up my truck and put about a hundred miles on it tonight. The TSB was done according to the dealer but there is no sticker or whatever under the hood. So far the most noticeable difference I would say is that it really holds 6th Gear much better. Now whether or not it will stay this way after it relearns is another question but so far I feel the results are promising. I also feel that it shifts a bit smoother and I'm not noticing the erratic or random downshifting that I used to remember.
