Hello, just was curious if anyone was aware of how much different these two tire sizes are. I am planning on going with the 285/70/17 BF Goodrich KO2 but was wondering if anyone has experience with the 285/75. I am trying to avoid cutting as much as I can.

You're talking a 33s with the 70 or 34s with the 75 Either way you're gonna end up with a cmc and some trimming.

That's incorrect. The actual difference per the tire sizes he gave was a tenth of an inch. They're essentially the same exact size

I'd have to disagree, even with looking at the calculator. When i park next to @ajohnson , his 285/75s look noticeably bigger than my 285/70s.

If you're talking about 285/70r17 vs 285/75r16, they are the same size. Either of those will likely require a cab mount chop and 3" lift to clear.

If you are are talking about 285/75r17, they are about an inch larger in diameter (essentially 34") and will require more significant cutting.

BFG doesn't make KO2s in 285/75r17, only 285/70r17 or 285/75/16.... Which are essentially the same size

yea missed the part about BFG. The 285/75/16 is essentially the same as the 285/70/17. As stated above.

That's strange. When I had 285/70 duratracs and compared them to my friend's 285/75 duratracs they were the same other than rim size

Well yea lol. if you're referring to a 285/75/16, then it would be almost the same size as a 285/70/17. I figured OP was talking about 17" rims only.

He was also asking about the BFG KO2 which doesn't come in 285/75r17... So I assumed he was talking about their 285/75r16 since that actual tire exists

That would be sweet. I'd have to buy a new set of tires though so good thing they don't haha

Either way, both sizes need 2inches of lift minimum and need a cab mount chop and removing mud guards. Also need good offset/backspace combo

The CMC isn't always necessary. Every truck is different.

Toyo makes 285/75/17s in their Open Country IIs, pretty beefy tire, I have had both the 285/70/17s and 285/75/17s in that tire, the 285/75/17s are a solid 33" tall, 285/70/17s are right around 32" or slightly less. The 75 series are Toyos xtreme tread which are much deeper and extend further down the sidewall.
These are measured sizes, neither ones were on a Tacoma.
