Well,I would say in some ways they hold value better than Tacoma depending on what you do. Unlike most after market mods on vehicles, wrangler is the one vehicle that actually increases the value of vehicle with the right aftermarket additions. Just go to autotrader or any other site and look and people who bought sport base models and did mods and are selling for quite a bit more than they paid...and getting it. You can't say that about other vehicles.

But yea, they both hold their value very well. And for the people on here already talking crap about reliability, sure is funny resale is just fine.

Lol, don't have it yet. Having them tint the windows. It's firecracker red with the freedom hard top. I wanted a true red Tacoma, but of course they don't have them.

Hope you have fun with the Jeep! I own a 1998 XJ Cherokee with over 205,000 on the odo- when that 4.0 goes it gets a new 4.0 crate motor- I love that rig. It's my dedicated thrash about vehicle..

    Nothing wrong with Jeeps!

I learned my lesson on extended warranties from this forum and after Jeep is paid I'll still have way below 36k, so if I want to purchase one I will then. That's money going for mods, are you kidding?

Didn't say you lost your shirt. I said you did your part to keep the economy moving.

Owing less money doesn't mean you didn't spend money.

You bought 3 new vehicles in one summer. 3 salesman made nice commissions, 3 dealerships made a profit. 3 dealerships/salesman made money reselling your trade in. Your lender(s) made money on every loan origination. Not that hard to understand is it?

As I said before, enjoy the Jeep.

I seem to bounce between Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Tacoma & Jeep Wrangler. I've owned several of each, loved them all. I just traded my 2002 Jeep Wrangler in on my 2016 Tacoma about a week ago. The Jeep was a lot of fun, it had 176,000 miles and never gave me a bit of problem. But I love my new Tacoma.

Thanks man. My cousin has a Jeep with 365k on original. Other than the obvious belts, hoses, water pump stuff. No engine rebuild, transmission, or anything major. Still going.

No, you have a point regarding making money on my trade or they wouldn't make the deal, agree. But at the end of the day overall I owe less, which is mind blowing really. Most people in this position really would have been screwed financially. Hell, I even have a nice check coming back to me from canceling extended warranty, maintenance plan, tires and wheels. 100% since I canceled within 30.

Well, actually I'd say it is Toyota's fault that the new trucks are too damn weak to go up hills with ect button just because a lift and tires. Drove a buddy's Jeep with bigger loft and tires than mine, no problem.

True. But I literally never tow and didn't buy truck or Jeep to tow. So I'm not too concerned.

I agree, jeeps can be way more fun driving.
I am a huge fan and have owned 3 in the past. These new JKs have a crap motor in my opinion, but will walk circles around Tacomas in upgrades, off-road, etc.

    Have fun man.

Just came from a '14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The 3.6 is nice and as long as it's not a '13 it will be reliable. The 3.6 was equally as gutless as the toy 3.5, although the 3.5 really screams once it gets up to speed, I didn't feel that way with the 3.6.

Personally I got tired of the Jeep. The soft top, while fun, meant that 1 day after cleaning the interior it was dusty again. The back of the Jeep is less than ideal to carry large, large amount of, items. I just found myself not using the jeep in the ways it was made for so I traded it for what I consider the wrangler of trucks. So far I really like my taco. Time will tell if I made the right move.

Jeeps were not jeeps anymore after Chrysler bought them and especially after 4.0 was trashed. Jeep is just a badged name now, real jeeps years ago were a legacy. It's a Chrysler in disguise.
