Nitto's New Hybrid Light Truck Tire

The Nitto Ridge Grappler combines the aggressive off-road performance of a mud-terrain tire with the on-road comfort of an all-terrain tire. Using its aggressive tread design, tread block stabilizers, and variable pitch tread pattern, the Ridge Grappler delivers excellent traction in mud, sand, and loose gravel and a surprisingly responsive, comfortable highway ride. High load carrying capacities from P-metric up to F-rated options. Whether you drive a daily work truck or an off-road adventure vehicle, the Nitto Ridge Grappler is a great choice.

    -KEY FEATURES-

    • Variable Pitch Tread Pattern: Advanced sound equipment was used to create a pattern that provides a quiet and smooth highway ride.

    • Alternating Shoulder Groovers: Shoulder grooves are arranged in alternating widths and lengths to clear mud and maintain traction. Lateral Z grooves are set in a zig-zag pattern to provide biting edges for traction.

    • Dual Sidewall: Like all Grapplers, the Ridge Grappler features two bold sidewall designs. One side features a more traditional pattern while the other side features a new, aggressive block design.

    • Reinforced Block Foundation: Adds rigidity to tread blocks to reduce flex.

    • Stone Ejectors: Protects the bottom of groove from stone drilling.

    • Staggered Should Lugs: Provides traction in off-road environments.

    • Edges: The alternating tapered edges and step block edges both provide additional biting edges for more traction.

I'd be better served with a P rated 285, which is 17 inch wheel only territory so far as I've seen.

Figuring maybe one day I'll see if anyone wants to trade wheels who's wanting to drop to a 16, but not sure I care enough to bother.

How many miles have you logged on your Falkens so far? Off-road capabilities? I'm pretty sure I will buy that same size AT3W for my truck. Any ad all thoughts, critics you might? Thanks.

    We appreciate your business, DCSBFTMFW!

From what I can see from our end, there are no manufacturers that offer a LR-C or SL construction tire in the 285/75R-16 size.

On a side note, BFG offers there KM2 in LR-C in tire size 305/70R-16, which is a little wider but maintains the same height as the 285/75R-16.

:spy: interesting to see the pricing on this. These and the new Falkens have sparked my interest to swap the stock highway tires out for something more aggressive to handle the North East winters

Nitto will release select sizes through the end of this year. Currently the 285/70R-17 LR-E and 37x12.50R-20 are the only two sizes that have been released.

What size are you looking for? I'd be happy to check the estimated release date for you.

The 285/70R-17 LR-C was scheduled for release this month, however, Nitto had to delay its production. As of right now there is no ETA on the LR-C.

I feel your pain. I just bought 16" SR8 wheels because I had brand new 16" tires on my truck, wish I had gotten 17" wheels. Oh well, when I need new rubber maybe I'll spring for some 17" SR8s. Thankfully that won't be for a while since I only average 9000 miles/year on my truck, or less.

    -UPDATE-

We just received a shipment of 285/70R-17 LR-C Ridge Grappler tires today (10 tires total); they will be live on our website tomorrow. You can place order for them by phone now at 1.888.459.4080; retail pricing is $246.45 each with FREE delivery.

On a side note, members have been inquiring to the weight difference between the 285/70R-17 LR-E VS LR-C. According to our specs provide from Nitto, the LR-C weighs 54.45 lbs, which happens to be the case for the LR-E as well. I believe the 54.45 lbs is correct for the LR-C but not the LR-E. Reason being... a member from another forum weighed one of his LR-E tires which weighed 58 lbs.

Ross, did you get the STT Pro? What do you think of them? I need new shoes soon, and the Toyo MT are $$$$$$$. Was looking at the STT Pro, but the guy st Schwab stated that they do not dispel rocks very well...Interested in seeing what someone who actually has them says.
