Gadget is not very helpful. All he said to fix it was wrap some exhaust wrop around the merge collector of the header....this did nothing! Oh and if you don't believe me just ask the 20+ guys on this thread...I can' wait to post on every website and forum I can find about how sh*tty URD is.

If it rattles, then you have either the bracket loose, which is from the transmission to head merge flange, the metal heat shield/shields, hardware, or something else. <<< Most likely causes. Rasp is another beast to tame.

It truly sounds like a problem with the installation. You need to get under there and check the installation. Tap on the exhaust and surrounding components with your hand when it cools.

No matter your feelings of URD or Gadget, they have no control of individual's installs.

I will also add, that there have been a few whom have had one of the runners on the passenger side, make contact with the coil bucket. Due to the engine vibration and soft engine mounts. @SconnieHailer being the first one I can remember. Hopefully he will chime in. He has good pictures.

Yep my passenger side header has contacted the coil bucket. Gadget has done right by me though and redesigned the runner so it's got more clearance to the coilbucket. Maybe he doesn't feel obligated to help those who openly bash him without just calling and talking to the guy... He is on here. It's the price you pay for performance parts guys. Don't like the headache then stick with your stock garbage and quit whining :p

Mine doesn't rattle. Must be an installer issue.

    With love,

Mine rattled one day soon after installation, then i found a bolt that hadnt been properly tightened on a bracket.

Installation error. No sympathy for you here. Especially when you attack a well known vendor when you are some random new guy.

Obviously I was pissed yesterday and vented. If it is an installer error then yes this is not Gadget or URD's fault.

BUT, I did speak to him on the phone! There was more to it than just the rattle, I told him I wanted to order the full Spec-U system. It wasn't until after I searched and searched on forum posts that I was told I need the O2 extender if I wanted it to run right and not throw codes! Gadget made no mention of this until I brought it up. I am pissed about his customer service. If he truely wanted to help customers he would have mentioned it up front, plus he could have sold more products....

On another call I asked him how the installation was for the Spec-U system. He said "its very easy, all your installer will need to do is disconnect the steering linkage" FALSE again!

His customer service sucks, that is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

I have a 2014 Taco TRD AC. Do I have to also get modified headers for my truck so they don't make contact with the coil bucket? I still don't know where my rattle is coming from... I am going back to the shop this weekend. Again Gadget made no mention of this either...

Random new guy who just spent $2,000+ with UDR...why does it matter how new I am? I am a frustrated customer. I don't care if he sees my post or anyone else. That is the point of the forums.

You are near the bottom rung if you think $2k was a lot of money to spend with URD.

The reason he can't sit there and deal with people like you is he is only one guy. He can only help so many people a day. He gets hundreds of inquires about how to fix things, ranging from super simple to legitimately complex problems. In short, he can't spend all his time helping someone who cant tell the difference between a boxed end wrench and an adjustable wrench. The installation is easy, its just very time consuming.

And it does matter how new and random you are you are. You don't come on here and immediately bash a well respected member and vendor with the first damn message. You are looking for trouble and loosing respect right off. You would have gotten a lot further a lot quicker if you had started off by telling the forum about the problem you were experiencing, rather than blaming the manufacturer for your problems.

Yes there have been people that have had problems, but there are 100 happy customers for every 1 unsatisfied. That's good business in anyone's book.

There is also the fact that you didn't install the units yourself, so him talking to you is almost pointless.

Glad you took time out of your day to explain that all to me @WOODEX M.E. - I already know that. I have to relay installation issues to my installer and his terrible customer service made that impossible. Also $2,400 is a lot to me and most people on this forum, sorry if you don't seem to care.

I spoke to Gadget by phone when I ordered. He knows his stuff - however his 'bed side manner' so to speak could be better. He's a mechanic type not a salesman in my opinion.

I did enough research through Google, TacomaWorld, and looking at all the stuff on the URD website that I asked Gadget several questions (might have even annoyed him). I made sure I was ordering all the right stuff. Got the URD Spec-U Headers, the front O2 Sensor Extensions, and the O2 Simulator (like $720 total). I should note they have TWO "O2 Sensor Extensions". One says it's for Doug Thorley Long Tubes. The other doesn't actually say what it's for. They are the same thing but different prices. So I had to call just to ask Gadget which one to buy. I think they need to update the descriptions on their items a bit more.

As you said though - install isn't "easy". My exhaust guy (he's THE guy in town) took 7 hours to install it ($560). He had to lift the engine (which the URD install instructions say you may need to do) about an inch and a half. Plus he had to disconnect the steering linkage (which thankfully the URD instructions say to do as well - and warn you that you need to tire the steering wheel off to something since it has a spring in it that will make it spin free once you disconnect the linkage).

I have to put a Resonator on my system now because it's RASPY as all get out when combined with the Spintech 6000 Muffler. All in all this header upgrade is turning out to be super expensive.

I *will* be doing a dyno test when it's done though. So I'll share results. I've already posted dyno results on my Build Page showing Horsepower/Torque before the header install.

Install is patience testing that's for sure on the headers. It's super tight in there. It took the longest on the driver's side. I did not lift the motor, I just figured out the puzzle to get it in there past the steering and everything else I guess. Passenger side went right in no problems for me. I have a little rasp when the pipes are cold but it goes away when everything is warm. I've got stock y pipe and cat back to a 24" magnaflow and it's pretty loud with these headers, but not so much that I feel conscious of it when I give older people who don't care about cars a ride.

There is definitely a torque increase and the motor just runs smoother in the higher rev range. I love these headers. Glad I faught thru the install

I'd say that 24" muffler is why you don't get much rasp. That's a LONG muffler! LOL My Spintech 6000 is only 12" and it uses spin traps internally.

Would pipe diameter size play a role in exhaust rasp?

Likely but I don't know how much.

Yep it's the 2.5 center in/2.5 center out. It is long but it's perfect. The 18 is crazy loud in comparison.

If you truly knew that you wouldn't be such a cock about it all. And I do care, just not for your immediately crappy attitude. Again, you could have come on here and asked a few questions first and received a much warmer welcome from many of us.
