As part of the agreement with Toyota to get a new truck she agreed to never visit Tacoma world again.

well that just blows if that is the case. I would like to know what the issue was that actually caused the engine to fail.

Having just towed with mine, but only a light weight trailer (2-3000lbs), I can say that for any serious hauling there is not way I would drag a 5000lb+ trailer around behind this truck. It is capable, but not ideal for any length of time/distance. With my old tundra I could drag 6-7000 lbs with no issues and not even feel it behind me.

She is probably in official legal negotiations now, so you probably won't here anything for a while or ever.

If a thread title has any of the below items in it:
    -lemon law
    -broke down
    -buyback
    Or
    -Toyota Corp

There is a 90% chance it will end with the OP having fallen into a black hole. In a year here I think maybe once I saw a thread similar to this where the OP updated the end with a final resolution. Not saying people don't have valid issues, I just think very many are highly emotional in the beginning.

Most likely because there are nondisclosure clauses in the settlement agreement ("contract"). When I went through a lemon law lawsuit, I never once breathed a word of having issues, posts, or results. Car manufacture employees do in fact scour vehicle forums and will make the manufacturer's legal departement aware when someone mentions lemon lawsuit and begins discussing details. Ive seen on other forums where people had to request their post be deleted and even say their attorney called because X manufacturer's legal department called about contempt and breach of contract. It's best not to discuss anything when it comes to that stuff. It is likely we may not know the outcome. I hope the OP is made whole.

Me? Yes. The first 15 pages or so. I do apologize for not making it part of my daily routine after that.

Does that mean I am wrong tho? People come on here very emotionally charge, start a thread, get many people to invest time by offering excellent advice, and then they dissappear.

I just have come to accept that people come for something and once they get it they leave. If they have nothing valuable to add maybe it's for the best. I don't mind sharing my knowledge or experience (what little I have) if 1 out of 20 people I do this with end up staying around and giving back the community is a better place for it. We can help each other out as a team....as consumers we are all on the same side here.

The whole thing came to a head when she got her truck back and then started the lemon law process. I'm sure Toyota just wanted this thread to go away. It's not very good press for all of the potentially customers that were thinking of buying a third gen.

But it still exist. It hasn't gone away. So we have to assume she did the standard thing of just stop the courtesy updates for people that took time to care and provide feedback. Not a huge deal. Obv we know human nature leans to being selfish.

Legal posturing has very little to do with what is "curteous." It is to protect her/whoever is involved in a legal proceeding. She may 'want' to come here and tell everything, but may not be able to do so, or at least at this time. If I had been her attorney, Id have come unglued about this thread, and basically told her of she continues replying to anything that she could find another lawyer. It's hard enough dealing with car manufacturers in a lawsuit without complicating it further with your client's statements posted on an internet forum for said manufacturer to twist and spin (mitigate their damages).

I wouldnt take it personally and think that she doesnt care about those who took time and showed their concern for her plight. I bet she is appreciative of all the support here. Anything she says can/will be used against her, even in her replies/explanations to good well-intended advice in this thread. That gives Toyota/any manufacturer ammunition to use against her.

Hopefully, we'll see her around TW with either a new truck or at least made whole.

I'd say not coming back is a good sign; the OP has been compensated in some form and a ND agreement signed.

Sure did have to work way too hard for it though, judging from this thread.

She hasn't been logged on since June 4th. I doubt we will hear the end of the story.

Seems if there were a legal problem with the thread she could request it be removed...I'd imagine the moderators would agree to do so.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
My guess is the OP was taken care of and can't talk about the final agreement, standard in many agreements.

IMO ... this could have been a very touchy situation with the dealer and Toyota on who was at fault.

IF she got screwed over ... my guess is she would be here telling us about it.

And ... she may be on the sidelines watching this thread too.

Best to not post anything at all. Second best is if ya have posted anything, then bring it to a screeching halt and dont post anything else. If she asked TW to delete, she'd be in hot water for tampering with/destroying evidence (attmept is included in that). Also, even if TW deleted, that wouldnt stop her attorney or Toyota from executing a subpoena for the information still stored, or in the least would include her request to delete. (All of her statements are admissible and thus subject to being evidentiary.)

Im not trying to be a know-it-all, just tryna s'plain. Truth is we dont 'know' what has happened to the OP, if she is happy and whole, said F it, or what.

It's not so much a 'legal problem' with the thread as it is something that could work against her interest in trying to bring this matter to an acceptable resolution, or abiding by a clause within a final settlement agreement.

Hey guys. Sorry for the insanely long wait.
Following the talk with the lemon law attorney, she advised me to take it back to the dealership for the engine issues claiming that further attempts at repair would help the case in court and further solidify that this is a lemon. I was just about to start the summer semester of college and could not take my truck in to the dealership when I had school and work throughout the week. Didn't want to take my chances with the rental either! (Which, nothing came of that windshield crack oddly enough). So I told her I would follow up with her after the 6 weeks of summer session.
During that driving period, the truck was hard to accelerate (still) and got stuck in first coming out of work (will post the short video I took of it after I post this). Knew the truck wasn't right so I called the lawyer the day I finished my last final and was done with school. Got her voicemail and was waiting for a call back. A couple days went by and I received a voicemail from Toyota that generically said they were asking about my truck. Following the lawyers advice, I didn't return their phone call.
They called my father who had the truck put in his name for insurance purposes until I turn 26 and he answered. The Toyota rep said they are going to buy back my truck! That phone call was last Thursday. She emailed over an agreement stating that the truck was to be bought back and they are cutting me a check for the full amount down plus the payments I made since December 2015 but MINUS a $1600 "usage fee." Sort of sucks but, at this point, I'd rather pay the $1600 and get a serviceable and reliable truck for the forseeable future and lose out on some cash. Plus, she said the usage fee is just from the time I drove it off the lot to when the repair took place. I'm at 9200mi now so every mile between 5000 to 9200+ is all "free."
Anyway, sorry for the looonngg wait. But good news came of it. The lawyer never contacted Toyota since I never returned the retainer she wrote me. So I think this was due to me calling them FIRST before the whole lawyer process got started.
