No- I don't get mad. I haven't yet really put it through the paces yet. I was certainly shocked at the lack of performance with a moderate pay load, and I'm certainly not impressed with my MPG during light duty (commuting) so yup-skeptical would be the right word. Once the trans update is done then I'll pace it and see what happens.

Actually I'm chuckling that some people seem to be defending potential shortcomings of a truck in spite of their stated ratings. The 2nd gen Dodge diesel community was HOWLING mad when it was discovered the stock fuel delivery system was so crappy that the IP pump could be toasted in short order (to the tune of several thousand dollars).

Here it seems to be more of a "Well what did you expect- That this truck would actually be a truck? Sheesh- stop your bitching and get over it.. It's a mid-size Toyota"

    It's comical.

Non-ethanol gas is not the standard these days, unfortunately

What does it matter, it did the job and kept the speed unlike your experience it contradicted. Get a V8 if rpms bother you. Like I said most all people know where most power is in ANY 6 cylinder rpm before they even turn it over ! Its not like its an amazing thing you discovered on just this vehicle.

    Never said regularly.
Actually when I did tow 'regularly' with heavy loads I had a diesel.

My days of #2,500 payload and towing at the same time are gone.

I now tow light to moderate loads, like a duck hunting boat, or an occasional tractor. According to TOYOTA.. that shouldn't be an issue.

..My point all along was that people continue to think a high revving motor is great towing platform....I discovered nothing ...You are for sure clueless when it comes to towing....read the towing forums a lot of people are misled by what is posted there....

Power/Torque in lower RPMs better for towing. This truck does not offer that attribute.

Funny, I have friends whose last names are Moran. I'll show this to them, they'll get a kick out of it. And it's a Cardnials fan, too. Makes it better.

I think what is the case for the Tacoma will hold true for the Tundra and probably the rest of the 1/2 ton market because of the govt regs on automakers ......mpg is what they are after.......and I get it, most people in the real world dont buy a truck to really use as a truck like in the past.I am probably in the minority I like a truck to feel like a truck and be able to do what a truck is capable of doing. As for ride etc...I expect my truck to feel like a truck....If I want a car like ride I will by a car...mpgs... well its a truck

Non ethanol gas in OKC Oklahoma has been running 10 to 25 cents higher than the 10% gas

My family is taking a road trip this week down to Colorado, so plenty of highway miles. It will interesting to see what avg MPG the truck gets...
