I mean, the vast majority of us that are LT hanging out in the MT thread have gone through multiple MT suspension setups before going LT, so we've got a boatload of useless knowledge now (to us) to pass on to others

Firestone lifetime alignment. As long as these techs are good, it's all free.

Do you know if the DKs use teflon liners or are they just steel? I've been doing some learning, and if they are teflon then they are maintenance-free until the day they need replacement

New Billet Tacoma upper arms almost ready to ship. Just waiting on the uniball caps to get back from the laser engraver. @fkrodends 1.250" uniballs and 3/4" heims with 7/8" shaft. These are also designed for a high and low caster setting using different spacer lay outs. Will also be available @sdhq

 

This particular store near me now has been recommended by the FJC community, so I was willing to give them a crack. This was provided there were no gotchas, which is why I was asking here in the first place - apparently my mistake assuming you would be helpful?

I do most everything maintenance-wise on my own, because I can't trust most shops to take the attention to detail. However, there's a limitation to me having the room, tools, and time to do every last thing.

There's an alternative place I can always try, but the last really good place I went to was $160. Before dumping money at a problem, why not try free? If it's outright that heims command additional maintenance expenditure no matter what, wouldn't you want to tell someone?

I've learned that a huge majority of people around here with poly bushings on their UCAs (myself included) are missing a key part that is causing premature bushing wear and improper UCA movement. In particular is a product flaw of early TC arms that may be still prevalent in current production unless you buy a replacement part from somebody other than TC. If I go poly, I now know what to look for and what additional material I need
I've learned that no matter what I put on, there's a method involved with inspection and adjustment of the suspension to prevent damage to the uniball. I'm not looking forward to disassembling my coilovers, but it's gotta be done.
I've learned that if I go with heims, there's specific questions to ask the vendor about their assembly process before installation, and follow-up adjustment based on the responses before going to any alignment shop.
I've learned that there's a better product to be using than heims (unless you really need that adjustment), but no one has them on UCAs off-the-shelf. If I were to buy any poly bushing arm, I could send the arms off to a company in Georgia that would TIG weld in the part, but I haven't seen what their price runs.

Firestone is either great, or totally useless. When I lived in southern VA, they were great. Here, not so much.

Yes TC uses Teflon liners and I've learned that they do require dry lube in the desert. At least for me, every few months they get noisy. I also have heimed uppers, but they were bought when I had a truck that ended up not having issues with the larger lift.
Oh well, i can still solid mount if needed ever and no issues in 50k+ so far (other than noise)
They will get a refresh at some point though

As for Firestone, they are the same out here. Its a crapshoot. But if you find a good tech that knows alignment and understands that these trucks do better by setting for the truck, not what manufacturer programmed. Youll be fine with Firestone.

This^^. If the tech understands caster and camber, you might be ok. If he just turns the bolts the way the machine says to, you're SOL.

 

There's your first problem, finding a "good" firestone tech. I had a "Master Tech" at Firestone say they couldn't get my Mt Build aligned very well, when I showed back up I found all my front tires had loose lugs, which I had specified in the initial notes needed to be tightened. (Dealer had stolen my socket to tighten, so I limped over to Firestone for an alignment). I literally just took dudes torque wrench and tightened my own lugs and requested my money back. F all that noise.

 

Yup. I found a tire place nearby that will accommodate my requests. 6+ castor FTMFW lol.
