    Hey everyone.

I have finally figured out the exact trim & accessories of the Tacoma I want. (TRD Sport 4X4 DCSB BLK w/Tonneau, Predator steps and after market Dealer Installed leather)

I know this is a good time to be looking given that the 2017's are soon to roll out prob in Sept/Oct and I could probably get a more aggressive deal on a 2016 model. I can't help to wonder though if it would be better to wait until the 2017's come out. I am pretty sure Toyota is not doing any major changes but I would think there may be some tweaks made.

Just looking for opinions on what you would do. Should I wait until the 2017's come out and see what they have to offer (prob wont be able to get as good deal on 2017 since so new?) or go with a 2016 and get super aggressive with the pricing?

I gots the TACOMA TRUCK BUYING FEVER and we all know there is only one cure....but want to make sure I proceed correctly. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

It's fine to buy the 2016 IF you can find "the exact trim & accessories" you want. You will probably be able to make a better deal on the 2016. Contrary to a lot of the stuff here, there are a lot of problem free Tacos out there. (Not making light of known issues, but it's a new truck under warranty.) I doubt much, if anything, will be changed on the 17's except the TSB on the transmission will be already done!

Contrary to what some people say the 17's won't be magically trouble-free because it is a 17 and not 16. Auto companies don't just save up troubles to fix then address them on day 1 of '17 production. For example, the TSB was released and applied to models during the later months of 16 production. I am betting you were more likely to get a lemon if it was produced during the first months of 2016 production than the later months of 2016 production. I think the biggest difference between a 2016 and a 2017 is a price increase of a few hundred dollars.

Thanks. If you are right then that would take care of one of my concerns (TSB update) for waiting on the 2017.

Last Tuesday(7/19/2016) I purchased a 2016 double cab off-road with a build date of 7/16. It was the date on the VINs door sticker. The dealer said he just got it in. So do you think it got the 7/14/2106 TSB update at the factory? I worked for a car maker in the past and would have thought differently. More times than not one hand does not talk to the other.

if they are building 2016's then 2017's will be a while. they will not release 2017's until the 2016 inventory is down, IMO.

I think you're thinking along the right lines OP. If it was me, I'd wait till the '17 comes out and try to snag a good deal on a '16. It's going to be the same truck, except for the TRD Pro and they'll shuffle a few options on the '17

    Cheers!

You can save a few bucks if you get Katskin leather and install it yourself. Or find an upholstery shop to do it for you. The dealer is going to sub it out anyway.

Pay me now or pay me later. Up front what you save on a '16 you will give up on the back end come sale time.

first, decide on a transmission and 2, whether you're leasing or buying.

leasing: wait for a 2017 when residuals are highest.

buying: use cash or bank financing on the cheapest 2016 blanket email to every dealer within 1000 miles.
